I finally assembled all the components for this Zhuang Fangyi ensemble. From setting the plan to wearing it on set took over half a month, especially with the colossal mechanical sword—it carries immense physical heft. During the shoot, I had to continuously adjust my posture to hold it steady without letting it droop. My arms were exhausted after a few full-body poses, but seeing the metallic highlights gleaming off the blade in the raw shots made every second worthwhile. The hair features a black-and-green base with red and blue highlights, which, alongside crimson horns, elf ears, and mechanical headpieces, gave the head styling rich depth. For makeup, vibrant blue contact lenses were chosen to sharpen the eyes, paired with deep eye contouring to reflect her cool, resolute persona.
The studio shoot environment showcased classical wooden furnishings, where a warm yellow circular backdrop light combined with scattered cherry blossom branches and blue-and-white porcelain to build a captivating atmosphere. Wearing this green gown adorned with intricate armor plates, leather straps, metal buckles, and a long teal fur tail was a genuine test of core strength; the open back and side-profile silhouettes required strict posture control. Temperatures ran high on the shooting day, and the studio lights were blistering, necessitating constant makeup touch-ups and wig adjustments. Fortunately, the photographer's lighting setup was exceptionally skilled, bringing out facial contours and engraved patterns along the sword blade with pristine clarity.
The greatest challenge in portraying this character lay in balancing her gaze and stance: she embodies both the crisp efficiency of a combat operative and the aloof serenity of traditional style. Throughout the session, I explored standing sword-swings as well as seated cross-legged poses, using varied body language to capture her temperament. The material textures of the outfit were remarkable, particularly the mechanical components across the chest and waist, which held great dimension under the lights. Despite the physical toll, projecting that sharp, enigmatic presence made this Arknights: Endfield cosplay venture an immensely rewarding experience.
