When the hall lights shone down at the Firefly ACG Expo, this Suzuran uniform was honestly quite stuffy and warm, but to get great results, I had to bring out my absolute best energy. The outfit has countless layers and requires a bit of patience to put on. The yellow short-sleeved shirt with bright blue buttons, badges on the chest, and sleeve prints took considerable dedication during prep to ensure high fidelity to the original design. The waist area is the most intricate: a white waist apron adorned with colorful embroidery, alongside a brown leather utility belt slotted with various props. To recreate Suzuran's iconic features for this Suzuran Cosplay from Arknights, the giant plush ears and multi-tailed fox tails behind me were the key visual anchors. The tails carried considerable weight, requiring extra attention to angles when walking or sitting to avoid bumping into people nearby.
I found a black equipment flight case in the venue to use as a prop; whether sitting or leaning on it, it provided an anchor for my body, making poses feel much more natural. We experimented with both high-angle and low-angle shots, and reaching out toward the camera enhanced the interactive feel of the frame in this Anime-style photography session. The gloves were quite thick, which slightly restricted delicate hand gestures, but their vibrant orange color really popped in the frame and matched the overall palette perfectly. Throughout the shoot, I constantly had to adjust the ears' placement to prevent them from drooping due to weight, while dragging the fluffy tails across the floor made them prone to collecting dust, necessitating quick touch-ups during every break.
At the con, I was surrounded by many photographers taking snaps, and lots of fellow Arknights players came by to take selfie commemorative photos with me. Although walking around the crowded hall in heavy trousers was tiring, hearing people call out "Suzuran!" made everything feel completely worthwhile. Bringing the character to life in this environment and connecting with everyone is the best part of any convention. From trimming the wig to touching up makeup, I made real-time adjustments on site; the convention lighting is starkly different from daytime natural light, and the color payoff of my green contact lenses and eye makeup under venue lamps had been a concern, but thankfully the final photos turned out remarkably vibrant.
This convention trip gave me valuable experience balancing both indoor and outdoor convention shooting. To maintain the character's lively nature, I enriched my body language before the camera—leaning forward or lifting one foot—so the resulting Convention photos never looked stiff. Although I was completely exhausted by wrap time, seeing those vivid, captured moments in the camera made all the fatigue vanish into thin air. Thank you to the photographer for their professional captures, and thank you to all the friends who recognized me and offered encouragement at the convention; everyone's warmth made this Suzuran journey truly unforgettable.
