[Shinonome Ena cosplay] Subculture Style Photoshoot from Project SEKAI COLORFUL STAGE! feat. Hatsune Miku

These Convention photos feature Shinonome Ena from Project SEKAI COLORFUL STAGE! feat. Hatsune Miku. Having studied her character lore, I knew she carries both an illustrator's longing for validation and a fierce sense of pride. To match this subculture aesthetic, I put immense care into the costume, hair, and makeup. The visual centerpiece of this look lies in the high-contrast palette of purple and black tones; the purple-and-white plaid pleated skirt pairs seamlessly with the purple-trimmed headband adorned with white skull and black bat hair accessories. The top is an off-the-shoulder black design, with striped strap elements and black-and-white checkered cuff accents adding playful flair, while chunky platform shoes flatter the overall silhouette. For this shoot, we specifically picked a hallway with crisp, dramatic lighting contrast, creating rich texture across the skirt folds and striped socks. The second photo in particular—reaching toward the camera—works together with the leg lines and the over-the-knee Purple and black striped socks to elongate visual proportions while creating an engaging, intimate interactive feel. To freeze this precise moment, the photographer used a wide aperture to melt away the background foliage and glass curtain walls, allowing the subject to pop effortlessly. I deliberately sharpened my gaze to convey the stubborn resolve at her core. While adjusting poses, the asymmetrical styling of a white sock on one leg and a purple-and-black striped over-the-knee sock on the other was quite eye-catching on the convention floor and beautifully sculpted the leg contours. For makeup, tiny red heart accents and glitter beneath the eyes paired with the reddish-brown short hair achieved a high degree of fidelity. The primary focus in post-processing was enhancing purple and blue saturations while suppressing redundant warm yellow lighting in the ambient background, leaning into cooler tones to evoke an authentic nocturnal atmosphere. Minor adjustments were also made to my range of motion during the shoot to best accentuate body curves and garment layering, making this a deeply satisfying set of Convention photos.
