Turning summer into mint candy: this studio shoot project for Wuthering Waves Lynae cosplay took nearly three weeks from preparation to execution. Because the lore carries that refreshing yet languid seaside atmosphere, we decided against an outdoor location, opting instead for silver reflective fabric in the studio to simulate shimmering water surfaces, paired with cool blue-and-white lighting to craft that Mint Candy Summer feeling.

Starting with hair and makeup: The hair was custom-made; to ensure that the green streak atop the head and the signature spiral ringlet on the side looked sufficiently natural, trimming and styling the wig took extensive time—especially the blue-green gradient on the hair tips, which required repeated dyeing. The outfit has rich layering: a white translucent cover-up over a light blue halter-neck swimsuit, accented on the chest with golden starfish and seashell ornaments. During the shoot, the positions of the pearl bracelet and pink wristband had to be constantly adjusted to keep them from being obstructed or slipping during poses in this Swimsuit cosplay.

The camera gear used for this shoot was the EOS R5m2 paired with the RF 24-105mm F2.8L USM. The indoor high-ISO performance was remarkably solid; to capture the shimmering highlights on the reflective sheet and accentuate the rim glow along the subject's edges, the aperture was mostly kept at f/2.8. Backlit shots tend to wash out facial tones into dull gray, so an on-set key light combined with a reflector provided fill light, with the color temperature deliberately dialed cooler to make skin tones look more translucent in our Cosplay photography.

Props and set styling were pure physical labor. The floor was covered with crumpled blue and silver reflective materials, while watermelons, ice cream, and mineral water bottles were carefully selected decor. The ice cream melted rapidly, so we had to race against the clock to capture flawless shots. Artificial coconut palm fronds, a model wooden boat, a ship helm wheel, and blue-and-white striped beach chairs were arranged and rearranged repeatedly on site to refine composition. For the side-lying shot reclining on the whale pool float, we retook it over a dozen times to flatter the extension of leg lines and waist curve, all while synchronizing with an electric fan to give the hair strands an airy, floating feel.

Post-processing was done in Capture One, focusing on recreating a translucent porcelain-cool skin tone. Without excessive skin smoothing, natural skin textures were preserved as much as possible. In terms of color grading, highlights were slightly pulled down and cyan-blue tones were infused into the shadows, bringing the entire photo set's palette closer to the visual sensation of mint candy while ensuring skin tones didn't drift too far from natural warmth.

The entire studio shooting process required continuous attention to detail—from a single strand of hair to a fold on the reflective sheet, each directly influenced the final image quality. The final outcome was delightfully surprising: though shot indoors, that crisp, breezy atmosphere unique to a summer beach was fully conveyed. This endeavor also accumulated invaluable studio shooting experience for future beach-themed Cosplay photography and Swimsuit cosplay projects.
