This Cartethyia makeup and styling, paired with this temple-style scene, looks incredibly clean on camera.
Let's start with the makeup and styling itself. The golden wig features braiding and highlights, decorated with a white vine-like headpiece adorned with blue stars. Paired with custom long elf ears, the contours of both my profile and front face immediately stand out. The design of this costume is highly layered: the upper body is dominated by a semi-transparent white-and-blue interwoven cloak over a black inner lining. The tailoring around the waist and abdomen is quite fitted, and paired with a black leather choker strap and ring ornaments on the arms, it injects a touch of sharpness into the holy and ethereal atmosphere. The skirt section features a gradient from white to deep blue, combined with an irregular patchwork of tulle and glossy fabrics. When kneeling, the hem spreads out naturally, delivering a rich visual effect of lightness and fluidity.
Regarding prop usage, we captured two different states this time. The first image shows me holding a longsword; its golden cutout hilt and blue reflective blade, combined with the overall cool-toned frame, easily highlight the character's innate combat prowess. The next two images switch to another golden, metallic, horn-shaped ritual implement, lifted parallelly with both hands. Paired with a side-facing kneeling posture, it presents a more devout and tranquil sense of ritual. To cooperate with this action, the body needs to maintain excellent core stability with shoulders open, and the arm lines must convey a certain sense of extension so that the final image appears gracefully stretched.
Shooting was actually far from easy. Just as mentioned in the post, my toes were genuinely working hard. Although the floor for the kneeling pose was carpeted, in order to match the photographer's angles and composition, I had to keep my posture upright with my waist arched back to form a beautiful S-curve, while ensuring the hands holding the ritual implement were at the precise angle to not obscure my facial contours. As a result, finding the center of gravity was incredibly difficult. To stabilize this posture, most of the weight relied on my shins and insteps pressing against the ground, so my toes naturally had to grip the carpet to prevent the body from wobbling. Often, holding a single pose required staying still for over ten seconds or even longer while waiting for the photographer to focus. After a shot, my knees and insteps would feel quite sore.
The scene and the interplay of light and shadow are also where this set shines. The background is a white arched cutout structure illuminated thoroughly by strong blue backlighting, which not only outlines the figure with a clear rim light but also makes the character's golden hair and flowing white veil look exceptionally translucent and eye-catching. I absolutely love the composition of the final image; it utilizes the white statues on both sides as foreground framing, which both increases the sense of depth and spatial layers of the frame and maximizes the solemn temple atmosphere of the entire set. Shooting this type of heavily stylized and atmospheric cosplay set isn't as simple as just throwing on the clothes and randomly pressing the shutter a few times. The upfront styling recreation, fine-tuning of movements and postures on-site, and the coordination of light placementsâevery single aspect needs to be mapped out in advance. This shoot could be called a dual test of physical stamina and expressive power, but the final outcome delivered a clean frame and orderly structure, making the entire shooting experience incredibly rewarding.
