[Lynae cosplay] Wuthering Waves' E-sports Style Makeup, Styling and Lighting Sharing - Image 1

This time shooting the Lynae styling from Wuthering Waves, the preliminary preparation mainly focused on costume texture and makeup details. This white shirt was specially chosen with a somewhat stiff fabric, because when matched with the black strapped vest, if the fabric is too soft, the overall silhouette will collapse, unable to support that tactical functional style feel. The cat pattern on the tie was custom-made by a factory; the green is a very eye-catching popping color in the overall black and white cool tones. During shooting, I deliberately adjusted the length of the tie so that the pattern could be completely exposed right in place.

There are a lot of head details. The light golden wig was trimmed with relatively neat bangs, and a short braided section was used on the side to increase layering. The skull hairclip on the right side of the forehead was handmade and modified by myself, with a size that just echoes the overall somewhat rebellious and cute vibe. The contact lenses chose a purplish-red style, which determines the emotional direction of the entire face. To match the pupil color, the eyeshadow used a purplish-red-biased smudging tone, coupled with black eyeliner to elongate the outer corners of the eyes, making the gaze appear relatively aggressive under cold light. The nails chose very long black nail tips decorated with stars and plaid patterns, because hand movements occupy the visual center in the photos, and such long nails can increase expressive power in front of the lens.

The shooting scene layout is relatively simple, mainly relying on a black high-backed Gaming chair and the screen light source in the background. I had the photographer cast the main light source on the left side, using a blue-purple color filter, and filled in a bit of cyan light on the right side. This lighting method can make the facial contours clearer, while making the white shirt present a silver-tinged texture under the cold light. Sitting on the chair with legs crossed, the action needs to make the lines of the thighs and calves form a triangular composition, which gives a stronger sense of space in the lens. Black cross-star shaped stickers were pasted on the thighs, which, matching the black straps and Stockings, increase the visual layering of the lower body. Hands raised on both sides of the cheeks with fingers slightly bent, this action requires keeping muscles tense so that it doesn't look too stiff with the blessing of long nails and rings.

In the details of the costume structure, the black strapped vest crosses in front of the chest, with the tightness adjusted to fit the body contour without squeezing out obvious wrinkles. Because the shirt is a loose style, the lower body is matched with black shorts. To avoid revealing anything when crossing legs, a layer of safety shorts was added inside. The black semi-transparent Stockings on the feet were specially chosen, with a slight reflection, so that under side lighting, the leg contours can be more prominent. The seams of the Stockings combined with the black straps on the thighs form a nice visual dividing line.

Regarding photography composition and perspective, the photographer chose a slightly higher angle for a top-down shot. This perspective can well highlight the wrapping feeling of the Gaming chair, while making the character's gaze appear more provocative. The lens focal length uses a medium-telephoto, which can compress the background, turning the screen light behind into soft bokeh light spots, increasing the atmosphere of the frame without deforming the character's face.

Actually, shooting characters with such functional style and cyber elements, the hardest thing to control is the coordination of props. Hanging the headphones around the neck is not only a decoration, but also an atmosphere element. I deliberately adjusted the position of the headphones to a little below the neckline, so that it wouldn't block the collarbone and the cat pattern of the tie, and the black color of the headphones also echoes the straps on the body. When holding the lens, the reflection of the headphones also needs to be considered, adjusting the angle so that light won't directly reflect into the lens to form dazzling highlights.

While shooting this set of pictures, I practiced hand postures many times. Because the nails are relatively long, if the bending arc of the fingers is slightly wrong, it will look stiff or block the facial features. Finally, I chose to raise both hands on both sides of the cheeks, with fingertips slightly tucked inward and wrists relaxed, which not only displays the nail details, but also makes the overall posture appear more tension-filled. Coupled with the gaze looking straight into the lens, the atmosphere of a bit provocative yet playful is maximized. When shooting this set, I paid attention to controlling expressions. Lynae's character temperament is not simply cute, but has a trait of confidence and even a little bit of dangerous feel. Therefore, when facing the lens, I tried to keep my chin slightly tucked, eyes looking straight into the lens, corners of the mouth with a slight smile, and the focal point of the gaze locked without appearing unfocused. Because the lighting is relatively cool, if the lighting angle is not paid attention to, the face is prone to looking flat, so I communicated with the photographer at any time to adjust the light position.

The entire shooting process took about three hours, with most of the time spent adjusting hand details and facial angles, because a slight deviation would cause the fingers to block key facial expressions. The arrangement of clothes and wigs also needs constant attention, especially the wrinkles of the shirt, which must maintain a natural draping feel without appearing overly messy. During post-processing retouching, I focused on adjusting the layering of cool tones, allowing blue and cyan to transition more naturally in the dark areas, while retaining the skin's original texture to avoid the plastic feel brought by excessive skin smoothing. Balancing the color of the lighting and the texture of the skin was the most emphasized part in my post-processing of this set of pictures. The overall photo output effect is very satisfying, with rich visual elements, and the cyber e-sports atmosphere completely achieved the expected effect.
