[The Shorekeeper cosplay] Recreating the Serenity and Guardianship of Wuthering Waves by the Water

This Wuthering Waves The Shorekeeper cosplay photoshoot was mainly centered around a riverside waterside outdoor location. I chose the second photo as the cover because this sitting posture better showcases the leg lines—white stockings paired with platform high heels, combined with the graceful drape of the blue sheer skirt, created a well-balanced composition without clipping the figure at the frame's edge. It was quite windy on shooting day, making the skirt hem and sheer headpiece difficult to fully control, resulting in many natural candid captures fluttering in the breeze. In terms of styling, the wig featured a custom light blue gradient with slightly curled ends; to highlight that ethereal look, the eye makeup layered pink-purple and pale blue eyeshadows, which paired with light-colored contacts brought a sharper focus to my gaze. The butterfly wing headpiece and pearl tassels were custom handmade; securing them into the hairstyle was time-consuming, but the visual outcome in the photos was fantastic. The costume was custom-made with three main layers of sheer fabric. While the hem easily caught water and dirt near the water's edge, that flowing lightness is an essential trait of the character. The hydrangea held in my hand was a shooting prop—its blue and white palette harmonized perfectly with the overall look, and under the light reflected from the water, the translucent sheer fabric displayed a beautiful clarity. During the shoot, due to the harsh contrast between direct sunlight and the water's edge, reflectors were used alongside diffusers to keep facial brightness steady while preventing overexposure on the white tulle skirt. The boned corset at the lower back and heavy high heels were actually quite a physical test, especially while navigating the uneven concrete shore by the water, requiring extra care when stepping on stones to switch poses. For the pose leaning against the waterside railing, the leg angle was adjusted multiple times to best highlight the texture of the stockings paired with the high heels. During bust close-ups, light filtered straight through the hair accessories, clearly delineating facial contours. The whole shoot went quite smoothly; though exhausting, seeing the blue and white dress billow by the water in the direction of the wind naturally brought out that quiet feeling of protection. This post is mainly to share the costume, prop, and styling prep along with insights from the shoot, as quite a bit of groundwork went into scouting locations and controlling light and shadow beforehand.
