[Firefly Cosplay] Bride Firefly in Honkai: Star Rail — Trailblazer's Exclusive Gift

Shooting this set of Bride Firefly was a very special experience for me. This work is mainly based on the emotional core of the character Firefly in Honkai: Star Rail, extending into a Bride cosplay styling design. Combining a pure white to teal-blue gradient with a veil, ruffles, and lightweight tulle fabric, I had high expectations for the final result before the shoot.

First off, let's talk about the wig paired with this look. To fit the character's temperament, this silver-white wig with a blue tint was layered, with a subtle teal-blue gradient at the crown and hair ends, making it look exceptionally translucent. Adding black hair clips and teal-blue bow accessories renders the overall layering much richer. As for the costume, the highlight of this dress lies in the pale yellow tulle ruffles at the chest and cuffs, as well as the cinched waist design. Over-the-knee White stockings and white lace-up chunky heels with blue trim visually elongate the figure.

We chose two completely different scenes for this shoot. The first scene was set against a red rose wall background. At first, I was worried that a large area of red paired with this white-and-blue dress would look too cluttered in color, but during the actual shoot, I found that the deep red roses made the white tulle dress look even cleaner and cooler, with the contrast creating a strong visual impact. Photographer NightDiva was extremely professional in capturing motion. To express Bride Firefly's lively feel, we designed several poses during the studio shoot, such as reaching out toward the camera or lifting the skirt hem. The full-body shot holding up the skirt hem especially displays the pleats and layers of the lower dress, as well as the pairing of White stockings and shoes, making overall proportions and lines very harmonious.

The second scene was shot during an itasha (decorated car) display. This outdoor scenario had a completely different vibe from the studio shoot; lighting on set was more complex, relying on ambient light and reflections off the car body. Standing beside the itasha holding a sign, or sitting casually by the open car door, these two photos lean closer to an everyday anime convention feel. As dusk fell, neon colors from the car vinyl decals and lighting from inside the vehicle shone onto me, evoking a unique aesthetic. Recording this transition from exquisite studio photos to live interaction gave the entire set artistic merit as a formal project while infusing it with authentic offline realism.

Since this setting is Bride cosplay, my expression needed a touch of gentleness while preserving Firefly's signature cool demeanor, perfectly matching the emotional sentiment: "At least we met, Trailblazer." However, to be honest, shooting in this outfit was quite challenging. The fabric of the veil and tulle skirt hem was very lightweight, but also prone to wrinkling, requiring immediate adjustments at every slight movement to avoid looking messy on camera. During breaks, I constantly adjusted the skirt placement—maintaining the tulle skirt's fluffiness in windy conditions or while walking left zero room for relaxation. Though the wig was well-styled, adding the veil made it somewhat heavy on the head, so throughout the shoot I had to ensure the fabric atop stayed three-dimensional to prevent the look from collapsing.

Looking back at this photo set, I'm quite satisfied with the overall lighting and texture. The cool, ethereal bride vibe captured in front of the red rose wall and the interweaving light and shadow shot before the evening itasha both conveyed the character's aura in distinct states. As a cosplayer for Honkai: Star Rail, being able to actually put on this meticulously prepared bride costume to embody the character and complete this Cosplay photoshoot alongside the photographer was deeply fulfilling in itself.
