I was the Dorothy cosplayer (Dorothy cosplay) in this maid-themed group photoshoot from Goddess of Victory: NIKKE. We shot in the studio for quite a long time; the overall set design featured European-style white archways, draping canopies, and lush floral arrangements. The studio floor was paved with reflective mirror paper, which visually expanded the spatial depth of the frames and created dreamily ethereal reflections. As Dorothy, I wore a pink-and-white maid dress adorned with multi-tiered ruffles and a delicate pink apron. To match the character's demeanor, I styled a pink-purple wig, paired with a blue-purple bow tie, along with White stockings accented with pink frills and black high heels. For makeup, I chose pink-toned contact lenses and soft pinkish eyeshadow to keep my expression looking gentle and sweet.
The unique traits of my three partner cosplayers were equally captivating. The Mihara portrayed by @喜茶苍苍子_ (miHoYo cosplay) was the fiercest visual focal point on set: her outfit featured a glossy black corset paired with a long skirt, black stockings with leg garters, sharp stiletto heels, and prop black leather whips and chains, projecting a dashing dark gothic flair. The Modernia (Modernia cosplay) cosplayed by @梓月 was a vibrant yellow-and-black plaid maid, whose sunny color scheme felt exceptionally lively, completed with tall White stockings and high heels with yellow bows. Cinderella by Yiyi was styled in a light-blue and white tulle dress, light and airy, complemented by silver-grey twin tails and monochrome bows. Standing together, the collision of black, blue, pink, and yellow generated rich visual layering.
The trickiest aspect during shooting was the reflective floor. While the reflections were gorgeous, the slightest oversight could capture studio light stands or make postures appear cramped. Photographer @Alma玛 demonstrated masterful control over lighting; guided by his eye, we explored standing, seated, and staggered group layouts. My personal favorite shot was everyone gathered around the white armchair—with Mihara seated at the center and me kneeling beside her. That angle not only showcased the intricate garment details of each character, but the side-by-side contrast of black stockings and White stockings delivered massive visual punch. After standing in heels all day, our soles were thoroughly aching, yet seeing the crisp fabric textures and immaculate compositions in the camera made every bit of pre-production worthwhile.
From custom costume tailoring and wig styling to prop crafting, immense dedication was poured into this group shoot. On set, everyone continuously adjusted fabric folds and wig contours to ensure the 2D stills conveyed authentic three-dimensional depth. Props like the black leather whip, metallic chains, and rose-embellished collars underwent repeated inspections and test takes. Working together with everyone to complete this shoot was deeply gratifying; the workflow was seamless, and we exchanged plenty of insights on portraying subtle character expressions along the way (Goddess of Victory: NIKKE & Dorothy cosplay).
