This photo set was shot inside an indoor botanical garden with a transparent glass roof. When receiving the cosplay concept for Nahida in Honkai: Star Rail, the first thing that came to mind was the need for an exceptionally translucent, bright ambient lighting to match the character's unique temperament.
The core visual anchor this time lies in the voluminous silver-white short hair and those emerald-green eyes. The wig was styled with softly curled layers, and the tips were deliberately blended with a gentle light-green gradient, which, under natural light, presents a feather-like, airy texture. The prosthetic elf ears on both sides were painted with a gradient matching skin tone and hair color along the edges, making the transition between ears and hair much more seamless and natural.
The costume design is exquisite; the large leaf-vein green motifs contoured with gold trim across the chest serve as the visual centerpiece of the whole outfit. To complement this silhouette, I specifically adjusted the fastening of the shoulder straps and detachable sleeves. Since outdoor shoots involve considerable movement, the dimensional structure of the outfit had to be supported by internal lining and hidden snap buttons. The sleeves on the arms and the metallic leaf pendants are the crowning touch—subtly swaying to catch gleaming reflections of light, adding rich, lively details, especially when capturing candid dynamic poses.
The lighting on the shoot day was fantastic, with sunlight diffusing through the glass window panes and casting well-structured shadows among the indoor greenery for a Fresh outdoor photoshoot vibe. To capture as much translucency under natural light as possible, I avoided excessive strobe lighting, relying mainly on reflectors to fill in facial shadows and preserve clear catchlights in my eyes. In Photo 3, I sat on a black wrought-iron bench, letting foreground pink floral branches and surrounding ferns enhance the depth of the composition. The white ankle boots feature black star motifs and gold stripe accents; the seated posture subtly reveals a portion of the boots, creating a harmonious balance between the lower-body tailoring and the upper-body lightness.
In post-processing, I intentionally preserved the authentic color and atmosphere of the plants without excessively altering ambient tones. The faint yellow glowing star streaks and light particle VFX in Photo 2 were added to align with the character's lively connection to flora and natural elements. Pairing an authentic botanical background with subtle VFX preserves the original photographic quality while making the 2D character presence feel more three-dimensional.
Cosplaying this character was also quite a test for Botanical makeup and styling. To ensure facial features remained well-defined under the silver wig, I used earth tones as the base for eye makeup, focusing on highlighting the inner eye corners and blending pale green across the lower eyelids. For the lips, a grapefruit shade with orange undertones was chosen so it wouldn't look overly heavy, harmonizing with the overall fresh atmosphere. During the shoot, we ran into minor issues like the wig getting ruffled by breezes or sleeve charms tangling, but the on-set team coordinated seamlessly, making quick adjustments during breaks. Overall, this was a wonderful Cosplay photography experience that materialized my understanding of Nahida in Honkai: Star Rail.
