[Hyacinthia Cosplay] A Christmas Winter Fairytale in Honkai: Star Rail

This Christmas-themed Hyacinthia cosplay work from Honkai: Star Rail focuses on a warm atmosphere with a red-and-white color scheme. Combining Christmas-element set designs, tights, and plush accessories, it strives to recreate the character's playful vibe in a festive scene as part of my Cosplay sharing.

The main body of the costume is a wine-red velvet jacket. The neckline is sewn with dark red stripes and gold ornaments, with a thin gold thread outlining the waist to add overall splendour. The inner piece is a white lantern-sleeve top, with a shiny little bell hanging from the necktie that makes a crisp sound when moving, adding a fun sense of interaction to the photoshoot. The skirt features a white wavy hem with subtle gray patterns, forming a sharp color contrast with the outer red velvet and creating wonderful visual layering.

I specifically chose a pink twin-tail wig with a light cyan-blue gradient at the tips, which looked especially lovely under studio lights, reflecting a subtle cool-toned sheen. On my head, I paired fluffy white earmuffs and a soft red cap, items that instantly maxed out the winter feel. Although the combination of pink and white is dreamy, the red clothing grounded the overall look, keeping the makeup clean without looking washed out or oversaturated. For makeup, to suit the studio lights, I intentionally deepened the eye makeup colors to make my gaze look brighter and more nimble.

To fit the Christmas portrait theme, I prepared two different handheld props. One was a giant red-and-white swirl lollipop, and the other was a long red-white-and-green striped candy cane. These large props were not only great for posing in various playful ways, but also helped balance the composition's visual weight. Sitting on a white wrought-iron bench with a long candy cane in hand, accompanied by Christmas gift boxes on the floor and red and green bunting hung in the background, the frame became rich in elements. Using the candy cane as a visual extension made bodily expressions during shooting much richer—whether holding it up to simulate spellcasting or holding it to pretend to taste it, different vibes were easily created.

For the lower half, I opted for a White thigh-highs outfit with pure white tights and a pair of small black leather shoes adorned with black bows at the collars. This combination flattened leg curves while echoing the dark red top, preventing the overall look from feeling top-heavy. Wrapped in white tights, the legs naturally drew visual focus in the frame—whether legs were together or crossed, it never looked monotonous, instead exuding a perfect blend of sweetness and refinement. Moreover, the white tights produced a lovely glow under soft light, making skin texture appear clearer and smoother.

For the background, we used a large artificial Christmas tree hung with colorful baubles and string lights, with several beautifully wrapped red gift boxes scattered on the floor. A thick white plush blanket was specially draped over the nearby wrought-iron bench, making it very comfortable to sit on and allowing the camera angle to be lowered for full-body seated compositions. Lighting relied mainly on softboxes for wide fill light. Since the costume colors were already vibrant, strong light-dark contrasts were unnecessary; soft light highlighted the velvet texture and skin tone better while clearly preserving details of the white tights and shoes.

A lot of effort was put into crafting the costume and selecting props to align closely with the classic red-and-white Christmas style. I am personally quite satisfied with the final result, especially regarding color saturation control—the contrast between wine red and white is very clean without clutter. Hyacinthia's character trait inherently possesses playfulness and cuteness, and I feel the accuracy of this costume's details in this theme effectively conveys that lively energy. Whether sitting on the bench raising a lollipop or holding a candy cane with a charming expression, relaxed and natural movements are crucial so the photos don't look posed, but rather authentically immersed in this Christmas setup, capturing joyous moments with a lighthearted mood.
