This Luoshui Tianyi photoshoot was undoubtedly one of my most meticulously prepared sets recently. From initial makeup testing and costume fitting to scouting suitable ancient architectural settings for Outdoor photography, every step required precise coordination.
The materials used for this outfit are quite exquisite: the outer layer features a navy blue shawl with wide sleeves, while the inner layer is made of light blue sheer tulle. Under natural sunlight, the varying levels of fabric translucency create rich, dimensional blue gradations on camera. Because the skirt is relatively short, I paired it with white tall boots and leg warmers to elongate the visual lines of my legs. The long Silver hair, dual white floral hair ornaments, and the white flower accent at the collar served as the crowning touches for the entire look.
The long sword prop in hand looks heavy, but the material is actually fairly lightweight; holding it for extended periods still caused slight wrist fatigue. Used primarily to project the character's heroic chivalry, I had to grip the hilt firmly across various angles to keep the blade aligned straight and avoid awkward slips on camera.
The first photo was the most physically exhausting of the entire shoot. Because the photographer used a wide-angle low camera angle, I had to balance on one foot upon the stone steps, finely controlling my center of gravity while bending the other leg backward and extending the sword outward with both hands. This pose demanded immense balance. Furthermore, because the wide flowing sleeves needed to billow naturally with movement, we retook the shot repeatedly to capture the exact moment a gentle breeze caught the fabric.
The second photo is a completely contrasting static pose. Leaning against the stone balustrade, I only needed to hold the sword upright steadily and smile directly at the lens. In these quiet moments, the rich tactile texture of the garment truly shines. The blue tones of the dress against the backdrop of red walls and green trees created strong visual contrast, perfectly mirroring the final finished frame.
Throughout the session, I maintained strict posture control. Ancient style cosplay characters demand dignified poise—keeping a straight spine without slouching shoulders. Dynamic leg-crossing poses like the first photo required core strength to look powerful yet graceful. Sunlight was abundant that day; dappled light filtering through the tree canopy onto the semi-sheer tulle created a natural filter effect. The photographer balanced the lighting masterfully, avoiding blown-out highlights in the background while preserving architectural shadow details and accentuating the subject. Achieving this balance of grounded texture and ethereal flow during Outdoor photography made me thoroughly pleased with the results.
