The photos from Dreamland Anime Convention are finally organized! This shoot featured Shao Siming cosplay. From the initial preparations to the actual shoot, it took about a month. For the purple wig, I chose matte fibers, trimmed the bangs straight across, and added slight curls to the long sideburns to faithfully match the overall silhouette of the original design. To cover the lower half of my face, I specially prepared a double-layered chiffon veil; its excellent translucency keeps vision clear while adding an air of mystery. The eye makeup paired purple contact lenses with lengthened eyeliner at the outer corners to enhance a piercing gaze. The costume features intricate details: the top consists of wide sleeves with purple cloud patterns over a white base, adorned with multi-layered ruffled cuffs and small pink blossoms. The lower skirt contrasts deep purple with light turquoise; the silver patterns on the outer purple layer are embroidered, and the stiffer material keeps its shape well while walking. The prop umbrella was heavier than expected due to its metal frame and large canopy, which made my arms sore after holding it up for a while. To find the right half-concealed angle to cover my face, I repeatedly practiced my hand gestures in front of the mirror. During shooting, we found a relatively clean grey-green wall, relying on facial close-ups and tilted body lines to portray the character's serene demeanor. A softbox was used to faithfully bring out the natural texture of the fabric and the translucent layers of the veil. Recalling the line, "No sorrow is greater than parting in life, no joy greater than making new acquaintances," the lively atmosphere of the convention unexpectedly heightened the sense of aloofness and solitude inherent to this ancient style cosplay character. Because the venue was crowded, we stepped away from the throng to capture these clean shots. This shoot aimed to recreate the ethereal, mysterious style of the original artwork as closely as possible. I hope you enjoy this calm and subtle portrayal—that's all for this convention photo share.
