【Shenhe Cosplay】Clear Skies and Gentle Breezes Are the Best Backdrops - Image 1

I chose this sunny day for a Shenhe outdoor photography session. In the original game, the character always gives off a cool and ethereal vibe, but this icy white under bright sunlight creates a different kind of gentle beauty, perfectly matching the breezy, cheerful mood of "loving sunny days, and loving you."

This costume took a while to prepare, with great attention paid to every detail from the neckline to the chest emblem. The black high collar wraps around the neck, paired with golden trimmings and a golden flower ornament at the neck, whose centered blue gem echoes today's clear blue sky. The large crescent pattern across the chest was intentionally made with a frosted glitter material that sparkles like crushed diamonds under strong outdoor light, casting gorgeous reflections. The off-the-shoulder design on the arms, featuring a black base, gold trim, and teal sleeves, gives the outfit both a flowing silver-haired ancient style flair and a sharp combat readiness. The red-and-white hair accessory and long red tassel earring swaying in the wind added a striking splash of color to the scene.

The shooting process was actually much more challenging than expected because it was quite windy today. The long silver-white wig blew uncontrollably in the wind; capturing moments where the hair flowed naturally without blocking my face required incredible chemistry between the photographer and me. The low-angle perspective combined with strong backlighting created a lovely lens flare, gilding the strands of hair with a golden outline and adding a dreamy, hazy layer to the whole shot. However, this lighting places high demands on dynamic range—without using the Doubao photo editing app to tweak shadows and exposure, raw outdoor shots can easily make facial lighting look overly harsh. In post-processing, I mainly used it to fix overexposed highlights and fine-tune color tones, making the contrast between the azure sky and silver-white hair smoother, while preserving the texture of the makeup, hair, and clothing fabrics without over-smoothing.

To me, cosplay is not just about wearing accurate costumes; it's about capturing the soul and charm of a character. Shenhe's design contains many flowing elements, like draped bangs, fluttering hair, and swaying hems. Shooting on a clear day allows the wind to stretch these details out naturally, breaking away from stiff poses to reveal a lively side. Overcast days are every outdoor photographer's dread, but when blessed with a sun-drenched day like this, one's mood instantly lifts. Compared to indoor studio shoots, this breathable interplay of light and shadow makes the character in front of the lens feel genuinely alive. Although I'll have to restyle the wig and organize all the accessories after returning home, seeing myself wrapped in sunlight in the final photos makes all the effort worthwhile. I hope this share under the clear sky allows everyone to experience another side of Genshin Impact's Shenhe.
