[New Year Ancient Style Photoshoot] Red Attire with a Big Fur Collar

This is a special New Year themed photo series from Ink Charm Studio, featuring a vibrant red Hanfu with a plush fur collar to complete an Ancient style photoshoot capturing the traditional New Year atmosphere.

The scene arrangement is exceptionally detailed, mainly using vintage Chinese wooden grilles as the background, with red maples, golden leaves, and red plum blossoms to highlight the winter festive vibes. Props include gold ingots, a red lacquer box, a red paper umbrella, and a pipa. These items are carefully placed in staggered layers, creating a wonderful depth of field between the foreground and background in front of the lens. During the shoot, the photographer used a reflector to bounce the bright light from the golden leaves onto my face, preventing a severe contrast imbalance between my face and the background.

The red Hanfu with a big fur collar chosen for this session is truly perfect for winter photos. The printed patterns on the fabric are delicate without being overly extravagant in embroidery, remaining simple and elegant. The big fur collar design is not only warm but also visually flatters the collarbone and necklines, making my head look smaller. For the hair, I went with a half-tied modified ancient style bun, adorned with a red ribbon and tassel earrings on one side; the tassels swayed slightly as I moved, adding a wonderful touch of agility.

In the first photo, I am holding a candied hawthorn stick with closed eyes and my head tilted back, an angle that beautifully showcases the soft, flowing texture of the fur collar. In the second photo, I adjusted my pose, sitting on the wooden daybed with one hand propping up my chin. When capturing this posture, special attention had to be paid to arranging the skirt hem so that folds in the pants or legs wouldn't ruin the overall silhouette of the clothing. The red umbrella is placed on the side as a supporting prop, which fills the empty space on the left side of the composition without stealing the spotlight.

The third picture is a real-shot record of the studio scene at Ink Charm Studio this time. As you can see, the light on-site is actually very complex, with golden trees and red berries on the right, and a large area of red leaves on the left, creating a highly dimensional setup. In actual shooting, the photographer needed to adjust the lens focal length, using a medium-to-telephoto lens to compress the scene, in order to get the clean and beautifully layered portrait images seen in the first two photos of this Spring Festival portrait session.

Although wearing heavy ancient costumes under warm studio lights makes me sweat, the overall experience is still highly enjoyable to present this textured New Year taste. The process of renting the studio and shooting was tightly scheduled, and the photographer's control over the lighting angles was spot-on, allowing this red-themed New Year photography session to find a perfect balance between vintage elegance and bright radiance.
