[Shirasu Azusa cosplay] Blue Archive mirror selfie daily life and cat interaction

Yesterday I shot this set of Azusa (Shirasu Azusa) photos during a convention in Hangzhou. Opening the album and looking at the first Mirror selfie, the skirt layering and boot details turned out quite well, so I selected it directly as the cover image. The second photo was actually a delightful surprise—while shooting, my cat at home suddenly ran in front of the mirror, reaching out a paw to touch its own reflection in the glass. It instantly injected vivid vitality into the frame, so I kept it; feel free to just look at the cat and ignore me!

For this Shirasu Azusa cosplay, my primary focus rested on fabric textures and ornamental precision. The white jacket with iconic black trim, yellow spliced collar section, and black bow tie are quintessential visual hallmarks of the character. To pursue authentic accuracy, I repeatedly adjusted the jacket cut and shoulder lines to avoid any loose or slouchy drape. This multi-layered black flared skirt with gold thread accents features a white ruffled inner lining, which remains crisp while revealing just the right depth of layering when moving, without looking bulky. Floral decorations adorning the skirt side were another detail I highly valued; the blue and pink contrast nicely fits her motif, adding playful charm and soft warmth without disrupting the core black-and-white balance.

Regarding hair styling, managing a long, straight, silver-white wig in real life proved far more time-consuming than anticipated. Before heading out each day, I had to meticulously comb it out to prevent tangles, ensuring bang curves clung naturally and draped smoothly. Paired with her signature yellow halo headpiece, securing its attachment stability was something I deliberated over extensively during setup; I utilized a combination of hidden snaps and bobby pins to prevent shifting or falling off while walking around conventions or indoors. Combined with black-and-white ankle boots accented by small purple bows, footwear colors harmonized beautifully with the top's black, white, and yellow palette, presenting clean, sharp leg lines when standing tall.

Choosing a Mirror selfie as the cover shot was mainly because mirrors offer the most direct presentation of full-outfit styling without requiring complex set designs. Since this was shot indoors, light was quite restricted; I spent considerable time testing at home to pinpoint a specific angle that dodged glare dead zones, framing the skirt hem, boots, and halo headpiece simultaneously. Balancing composition here was surprisingly more demanding than full photoshoot setups with a photographer. Furthermore, with the phone obscuring my face, audience attention naturally focuses on the inherent outfit and accessory coordination logic.

As a cosplayer dedicated to recreating fine details, every step—from wig trimming, headpiece positioning, collar adjustment, to skirt shaping—demands immense focus and energy. Maintaining immaculate white jackets and ankle boots proved particularly challenging in Hangzhou's humid weather recently. Taking off boots after yesterday's session left my ankles aching from prolonged standing, yet standing in this outfit gave me a profound feeling that character traits are communicated through attentive details—a sense of fulfillment easily offsetting physical fatigue.

The cat featured in the second picture is my pet Ragdoll, who loves seeking attention in front of the camera; this time she pressed her paws right against the mirror, creating a wonderfully playful interaction. Though I jokingly said "just look at the cat," examining the reflection closely reveals full wardrobe details, crisp black-and-white visual pairings, and deliberately placed postures seamlessly documented within the frame. This unintentionally added Casual cosplay warmth keeps the scene from appearing overly rigid.

Having shared so many details regarding this costume, cosplay to me is never just slipping into a character's outer skin. It represents sensing a character's vitality beyond two-dimensional dimensions through crafting, wearing experiences, and real-world interactions. The atmosphere at yesterday's convention in Hangzhou was wonderful; many attendees recognized Azusa instantly and kindly took photos. Seeing meticulously prepared garments and props appreciated offered immense fulfillment. I hope to keep challenging diverse character looks in the future, discovering greater synergy between character settings and my own expressive presence in Anime-style fashion.
