Slipping into this outfit named 'Estonia in Spring' and standing in front of the lens, it feels as though I can truly sense that gentle breeze belonging to Seele's hometown in the game setting.
The details of this outfit are truly worth talking about; special thanks to tailor @XinFei Apparel for the meticulous crafting. From fabric selection to overall tailoring, the recreation level is stellar. The off-the-shoulder design of the top paired with a red bow at the neckline and blue-green lace trims breaks the original monotony of black and white, appearing playful and spirited. The lower skirt section features a dark base printed with delicate geometric lines and subtle floral patterns. The pink sash around the waist drapes from one side, adding visual layer depth. White over-the-knee socks paired with matching white short boots are a classic combination; this pairing of white thigh-highs and a short skirt works wonders for presenting leg lines, offering great snugness and comfort during fitting. The tailor truly poured a lot of heart into many tiny details of this Anime-style fashion outfit.
Weather and lighting on the day of the Cosplay photoshoot were both fantastic, allowing the texture of this garment to be clearly seen under natural light. I specifically chose sunflowers as hand-held props; the bright yellow of the bouquet happened to form a harmonious color response with the red, blue, and green accents on the dress, keeping the overall tone from looking too cold.
Regarding scene arrangement this time, rather than choosing conventional manors, lawns, or indoor studio shoots, I decided to attempt a surreal combination of a starry night sky and a flower sea. Real pink flower bushes were used as foreground, creating dreamy bokeh spots through a wide-aperture lens, while the massive nebula and Milky Way behind were created through repeated communication with the photographer, extending spatial boundaries via post-processing compositing. This setup fits the character's inherently mysterious and pure temperament nicely for a Starry sky portrait.
Throughout the shooting process, controlling lighting positions tested our skill. We needed the background nebula to act like a real glowing light source as the main light without losing three-dimensional depth and facial details. Finally, in post-processing color grading and lighting integration, we preserved the glistening sheen of starlight falling across the skirt and hair strands, striving to softly merge the surreal outdoor scene with realistic character lighting and shadows.
Across the entire set, what I wanted to express most was still the character's inner state. Although it involved set design and compositing, putting on this dress caused me to involuntarily immerse into a quiet yet firm atmosphere, wanting to express the character's soft exterior yet resilient interior qualities through body language and gaze. This kind of fantasy-style shoot relies on more than just clothing and post-processing; it also requires adjusting poses according to the outfit's tone. From makeup setting and prop selection to final output, it took about two weeks of polishing. To match the dreamy feel ahead, we indeed traveled to several places to locate thriving pink flower beds.
This time, understanding of the character focused on interpreting a feeling of 'quiet yet vibrant vitality.' Seele cosplay in this 'Estonia in Spring' outfit gains an added gentle, healing warmth akin to spring flowers blooming, and I hope this photo set conveys an unconventional warmth and magical wonder.
When the final photos came out, looking at that figure holding sunflowers under the river of stars looking back in the image, I felt all the early scene conceptualizations and post-processing adjustments were totally worth it. It was a wonderful creative experience, and I'm deeply grateful for the photographer's patience and the dressmaker's outstanding work in Honkai Impact 3rd creation.
