【Cartethyia Cosplay】Encounter of Double Resonance: Warm Convention Photos from Wuthering Waves 2nd Anniversary - Image 2

This dual-character framing of Cartethyia Cosplay and Fleurdelis cosplay underwent a long period of preparation from initial character selection to the formal shoot. Today, taking the opportunity of returning photos from the Heatwave International Anime and Game Expo (Heatwave anime convention), I'd like to share details and thoughts behind this shoot. People most frequently ask about our chemistry during dual shoots, and through this collaboration, my partner Qi'an and I developed a lot of insights on set.

First, let's talk about the overall approach to costumes, makeup, and props. To better highlight the blue-black gradient, silver armguards, and elf ear textures before the camera, we retained high-contrast color matching based on original character settings. In the first image, the photographer chose a high-angle wide-angle perspective with overhead depth, capturing our sense of floor elongation across the venue. Combined with the naturally flowing lines of the skirt hem and streamers rustling in the breeze, the entire outfit gained dynamic vitality. Personally, I'm quite satisfied with the pairing of high heels and leg contours, which gives the overall proportions a graceful, extended look.

For makeup, we aimed for a cool, luminous, and ethereal feel. Eye makeup incorporated cool-toned blue eyeliner to echo the garment's blue gradient, while eyeshadow saturation was intentionally desaturated to prevent bold colors from disrupting the character's aloof demeanor. Headpieces were a major technical challenge for this styling: Cartethyia's blue thorn-like headpiece and Fleurdelis's silver-white circular frame required specialized fastening methods to ensure they remained firmly set atop our heads while long hair covered our ears, preventing any shifting while walking.

Speaking of shooting, capturing narrative-rich dual shots at a bustling anime convention presents challenges beyond makeup and styling—namely, leveraging venue lighting effectively. The second image features a close-up of our faces; we were actually checking the attachment buckles of our metal armguards at that moment. Our bodies leaned slightly toward each other, naturally forming an interactive composition. Photographer WiFi captured this from a brilliant angle, blurring high-contrast background highlights so that facial expressions and physical interaction became the visual focal point. Indeed, these candid, effortless moments often carry far greater emotional resonance than stiffly staged poses during Cosplay photography.

The venue floor was quite hard, and walking on concrete in high-heeled platform sandals was honestly a real test of ankle strength. Yet standing before the camera—especially in that full-body depth shot in image one—the upright, poised posture was a direct result of the gear itself. The long streamers on the skirt were designed with detachable metallic shaping wire and lightweight gauze fabric, ensuring they maintained an expanded flair even in a stationary state without needing excessive external assistance—a final effect achieved after repeated adjustments.

This dual-character shoot was not merely a Cosplay photography session, but rather an immersive realization of character lore from Wuthering Waves. ACG visual elements and our real-world physical expressions unified seamlessly through the lens. Throughout the photo review process, I could feel the magic of this dual pairing—left and right, front and back—where depth-of-field variations brought shifting perspectives. Spacious indoor venues like the Heatwave anime convention are uniquely suited for photographing outfits with flowing long tails. The clean light and composition across this set left very few discarded shots, giving me greater confidence for future creative projects.
