[Cartethyia Cosplay] The Cool and Elegant Guide in Wuthering Waves: Capturing Cosplay Photoshoot Moments in Front of the Gate - Image 2

Putting on this Cartethyia outfit and standing in front of the ancient stone gate set up by WiFi, I felt entirely immersed in the vast and mysterious world of Wuthering Waves. From styling to photography today, every step aimed to stay as close as possible to my understanding of this character.

First, let's talk about the makeup and hair styling. The wig is a pale gold color. To recreate the character's cool and ethereal feel, I specially styled the bangs and parted side braids. The hair ornament on top and the blue ribbon accents on both sides are the finishing touches, breaking the monotony of pure golden hair. When wearing the pointed elf ears, the angle needed careful adjustment so the ears seamlessly fitted the edges of the wig without revealing flaws in profile shots. The eyes are the core of this makeup look—light blue contact lenses combined with a soft reddish eyeshadow smudge around the eyes gave the gaze an expressive yet distant, ethereal elven look.

Looking at the design of this Elven-style clothing, there are really so many details. The neckline features a black high collar paired with metallic ring decorations, nicely flattering the necklines. The chest and abdomen areas feature white backing with black lining, covered in exquisite light blue vine embroidery. These vertically extending embroidery patterns look visually very elegant. Walking around during outdoor photography today, what required the most careful handling were the long ribbons dangling from both sides of my arms. The ribbons fade from white to deep blue, made of lightweight fabric that sways easily with the wind with a slight movement. Although this presented some challenges during shooting, the dynamic feel and color transition in the final shots were truly fantastic. The high-heeled sandals with transparent straps wrapped delicately around the ankles put my standing posture to the test. Stepping securely on the stone steps took some time, but for the completeness of the entire look, these minor troubles were completely acceptable.

For the location choice, the spot WiFi picked matched the character's aura remarkably well. The cool gray stone arch carried an ancient ruin vibe, complementing the vibrant green monstera and trailing vines around it, creating an atmosphere where magic and nature intertwine. This dark-toned background nicely highlighted the refreshing feel of the white outfit and blue sleeves. For lighting, we experimented with strong background lights and rim lights to brighten the edges of the wig and the texture of the ribbons, producing a visual effect as if divine light descended in a fantasy forest. Actually, this kind of lighting sets high demands for photography and post-processing—it needs to ensure sufficient light on the face while avoiding detail loss from overexposure. Thanks to WiFi's on-site control, so much skin texture was preserved during post-processing.

In terms of posing, I intentionally avoided too many combat or ostentatious movements this time, preferring to showcase her calm, elegant, and commanding side. In the full-body shots, with one hand gently touching my chin and the other naturally extending outward, framed by the doorframe and artificial plants, I hoped to present the character's composed and effortless temperament. The half-body close-ups focused more on eye contact and facial details. Because the ribbons and skirt hem have crisp cuts, no extra embellishment was needed—standing tall and straight was enough to showcase the character's presence.

Regarding the post-processing for this cosplay photoshoot, our main goal was to preserve the overall lighting atmosphere while balancing the fabric textures. The subtle patterns on the white dress and the blue gradient parts could easily lose detail under strong light, requiring patient restoration in post-production rather than blindly over-brightening white backgrounds. This includes the airy feel between hair strands and the subtle floating particle effects in the frame, all meant to make the image look more dynamic and anime-styled, avoiding a flat, stiff look.

After a full day of shooting, although it was physically exhausting—especially walking around on irregular stones in high-heeled sandals, leaving my knees and ankles quite sore—watching the ideal images gradually appear in the viewfinder made the physical fatigue melt away bit by bit. Being able to turn a beloved character costume into concrete visual memories through my own interpretation and the photographer's ingenuity is the greatest joy cosplay brings me. I will continue to refine my understanding of characters and hope to bring everyone even better works in the future.
