Putting on this adult Cyrene costume and sitting in front of the vintage wooden windowsill, the phrase 'One left in the past, one heading to the future' kept floating in my mind. This photo set has been in preparation for a while—from trimming the wig to adjusting the costume details, and then working with the photographer to finalize this wooden house with a rich retro flair as the shooting location. Everything was done to best restore the character's temperament, which is both dreamy and carries a hint of time-settled charm.
Let's first talk about the details of this Ethereal pink hair outfit. The light pink long hair has a very natural soft-light effect under the sunlight. This time, I specially gave it a fluffy styling treatment, paired with that wreath-shaped headpiece woven from white leaves and branches on top of the head, which fits perfectly with the overall ethereal vibe. The biggest highlight of the costume lies in the handling of layers: the shoulders adopt an off-the-shoulder design, paired with white hollowed-out arm rings and blue-and-pink gradient bow ribbons at the wrists, which both preserves the character's lightness and adds richness to the styling through the stiff white skeleton structures. The skirt hem can be said to be the place where the most effort was spent; the outer layer is semi-transparent white gauze with a shimmering flow feel, while the inner layer is a deep purple and blue starry sky pattern print. When sitting on the ground, the skirt spreads out layer by layer like a nebula, creating highly rich visual layers.
What I love most are the vine and flower patterns on the legs. This wasn't actually painted on, but was a specially customized transparent sticker. Through careful positioning and application, it achieved this natural effect as if it grew out of the skin. While shooting these photos, the light changed very quickly. The afternoon natural light shone through the black wooden lattice window, and the blue-and-white hydrangeas outside the window were blooming vibrantly, just creating a tranquil afternoon tea atmosphere. The photo holding the white bone china teacup is the moment I feel best matches the vibe of 'remaining in the past,' as if time froze at that very instant.
The difficulty of this Cosplay photoshoot actually lay in controlling the movements. Because this skirt hem is very wide, the wig is quite heavy, and with that headpiece, even a slight move could easily cause an unstable center of gravity. Therefore, during the shooting process, I needed to constantly monitor whether the headpiece was tilted and be careful not to let the skirt hem catch on the windowsill or wooden chairs. Fortunately, the photographer controlled the rhythm excellently, guiding me through adjusting my sitting posture and gaze the entire time, striving to capture the most natural expressions in a relaxed state. The shot kneeling by the window and looking back, as well as the one sitting casually on the bed, are meant to convey a more relaxed feeling, as if waiting for something, responding to that lightness and freedom of 'one heading to the future.'
Honestly, although the entire shoot was indeed a bit tough and wearing the headpiece for too long caused some pressure, seeing the moments where light and clothing texture interweave in the final photos made me feel that all inputs were totally worth it. The atmosphere of this costume and this old house matched perfectly; the original woodiness and aged feel were neutralized by the dreamy colors of the skirt hem, colliding into a highly unique visual experience. I hope this Cyrene Cosplay set can let everyone feel my dedication to the character's image and this immersive retro style photography session.
