[Iuno cosplay] Between White and Blue, She Is the Only Light

This set was primarily a Studio shoot against a seamless white backdrop, strictly unified across a white, blue, and gold palette around the theme of that singular light between white and blue. Today's log documents the detailed workflow and creative thoughts behind the shoot.

Starting with makeup and styling, this Blue hair cosplay look features strong contrast: deep blue on top transitioning into a pale blue gradient at the tips. Taming a wig of this length took considerable effort, mainly to prevent the curls from tangling or catching on waist accessories. To align my gaze with the character, I chose blue contact lenses, deepening the outer eye corners while balancing the cool aesthetic with a soft lip tone.

The costume was the most complex component. The white base was accented with abundant golden metallic accessories, such as the chest necklace and waist buckles, which caught strong reflections under intense lighting and required continuous angle tweaks. The white tulle and long trailing ribbons were standout highlights, particularly the moonlight and star motifs along the ribbons. Instead of stockings, fine white lace-up ribbons paired with golden thigh bands visually elongated the legs. Posing required constantly arranging these trailing ribbons to keep them looking weightless and fluid.

Lighting was the most critical aspect of the shoot. We opted for a high-key softbox setup, placing large diffusers on both sides to blow out the background into pure white, which gave the white sheer tulle and polished metal a wonderfully luminous, translucent quality. To explore flattering angles and highlight costume details, I transitioned through prone, seated, kneeling, and side-lying poses. The shot chosen as the final cover was a seated pose holding the orb with both hands. This pose kept my arm lines natural, showcased the halter-neck cut and leg straps, and created a slender silhouette by leaning slightly forward.

For framing, the key was keeping the subject centered while blending the clear orb into the white ambient bounce light. While lying prone yielded the prettiest facial angles, seated poses conveyed the full costume layers and character aura much better. Toward the latter half, we focused on using the prop orb to evoke mystery, drawing on the concept of tucking starlight into one's hair within a pure white dreamscape. The overall aura of this 2D character styling came together smoothly.

There were minor hiccups—the leg ribbons were tied quite tightly and left slight marks, and the bracelets slipped off a few times—yet the team worked in great sync to achieve our desired vision. This set stemmed purely from a love for high-key blue-and-white palettes, with styling and retouching aimed at sheer clarity. The ultimate perk of a Studio shoot is absolute light control, allowing us to capture every golden highlight embedded in the fabric.
