Carrying the shooting props on the way back in the evening, the photographer recorded this moment with a casual snapshot. Compared to the meticulously arranged lighting and mandatory high completion rate in a studio shoot, I especially love this completely unwound state after wrapping up the photoshoot. At that time, the sunset happened to tilt at a wide angle, casting a backlit glow from behind, bringing out a very gentle tone across the entire photograph.
Because it was a backlit portrait, the violet-colored hair strands were illuminated by the sun, with a soft halo shimmering around the edges, and that black floating ring above the head also sketched a clear outline with the help of the light. The sunlight dragged a long shadow on the ground, forming a staggered visual balance right with my stance. At that moment, I didn't deliberately look for angles; my left foot naturally extended forward with my legs lightly crossing, my weight resting on the other leg, while my hand casually held a bottle of mineral water I just bought, and my left hand was tucked into the waist side of the blue jacket. This pose of moving with spontaneity instead added a layer of slice-of-life realism over forced posing.
For the attire, I chose a sports style based on the gymnastics uniform theme, with a deep navy short-sleeved T-shirt as the base and a sky-blue zippered sports jacket over it. Since it was the evening of a transitional season, the jacket wasn't worn properly but was half-pulled down the shoulders to hang on my arms, exposing the inner top and the white-striped cuff details. It was paired below with black tight-fitting shorts and thick-soled black-and-white sneakers, along with a white ID badge hanging from a teal lanyard. The overall colors looked bright and uncluttered under the sunset, fitting this youthful and energetic athletic setting perfectly.
Many times when we do cosplay, we habitually chase after costumes and props that look identical to the original art, but this experience taught me that appropriately abandoning some pre-established frameworks and blending into the atmosphere of the environment itself can bring unexpected surprises instead. This kind of "imperfect" street snapshot is more capable of conveying the character's everyday life feel. Just like the light this evening, it didn't need much post-processing to look exceptionally rich. Photographer Ramen is excellent at capturing the right timing; as we walked and chatted, he pressed the shutter at the exact moment I relaxed a bit, without deliberately calling me to look at the lens, recording a completely natural moment of me.
I feel that this kind of authentic frame generated during shooting intervals is highly valuable for preserving the character's memorable points. Because for every outfit and every styling, what remains in the heart is often not that extremely rigorous look inside a studio, but the warmth brought by a certain outdoor photography trip itself. I really love the natural feel and light in this photo, which makes me look forward to trying more different outdoor scenarios with this gymnastics uniform look again when the weather is equally comfortable next time. Maintaining this casual mindset is also a process of accumulating experience.
