Every time I change into this red-and-black battle outfit and step in front of the camera, I feel the character's mysterious aura instantly possess me. For this shoot of Ning Hongye's Hongchuan Fairy outfit from NARAKA: BLADEPOINT, what made it feel most special was that red blindfold cloth. Covering the eyes not only restores the character's iconic appearance, but also demands much higher control over body language during the shoot. Unable to see the lighting outside or the camera's location, I had to rely on directions from my photographer sisters, using muscle memory to strike every exertion, defense, and subtle turning movement. To be honest, shooting with blind sense actually made it easier to immerse myself in an isolated martial arts assassin vibe; as long as the waist and core stay tight and toes are pointed straight, the aura won't disperse even with closed eyes.
The costume fit the character exceptionally well. The interwoven red and black design is not only classic in color, but the material paneling is also very refined. The red-and-white embroidered halter-neck upper body highlights the neck and shoulder line, while the inner black fitted corset tightens the waistline, pairing with sheer red gauze sleeves that flow beautifully when moving. The lower body's black lace shorts paired with black thigh-high leather boots not only elongate the legs, but also make the standing posture look taller and sharper. My friends captured the angles brilliantly during the shoot; when doing high kicks or defensive poses, the texture of the thigh-high boots formed a vivid contrast against the red gauze, looking super cool on camera. Another perk of being blindfolded is that the limitation of eye contact makes people pay more attention to body silhouette and graceful lines.
The outdoor location was set in a courtyard featuring Chinese-style architecture and a bamboo forest, giving the photography and post-processing plenty of creative room. Because the natural colors of plants and architecture were relatively understated, that striking splash of red became the absolute visual focus of the frame. Stepping on blue slate stairs or leaning against dark wooden railings, there was no need to hunt for camera angles deliberately; even a casual glance back captured the aura effortlessly. My friends said photos turn out great even without expert photography guidance, precisely because the color scheme and character styling fit so seamlessly. There's no need to worry about a lack of props in post-processing, as the natural environment serves as the best prop.
Maintaining safety and balance was crucial during the shoot. For poses holding a sword or spear, a momentary slip in focus could ruin the stance due to an unstable center of gravity. Going through the set of poses put high demands on core strength, but as long as muscles engaged correctly, having these cold weapons in hand actually helped my body find leverage points. I particularly loved shooting near ancient architectural corridors and circular archways; those framing structures naturally add depth to composition, and standing inside them naturally exudes a deep, piercing Wuxia atmosphere.
Ultimately, this set of Cosplay sharing aims to express Ning Hongye's tough, proud, yet dangerously alluring temperament. The title of Hongchuan Fairy itself carries a cool yet gorgeous charm, so even while blindfolded, I tried my best to control my breathing and avoid exaggerated expressions. I'm very satisfied with the final image quality. This immersive experience reminded me that cosplay isn't just about recreating a character's look, but also representing and expressing their spiritual core. Every flutter of red gauze and every shift in weight during standing poses felt like a dialogue with the character. Beyond my friends' skills, I'm grateful for the character's powerful design, allowing the photographer to find harmonious visual language whether in bamboo groves, on stone steps, or beneath ancient walls. Leaving this set of photos for this character feels like channeling out the fierce spirit of the Wuxia world in my heart.
