\"If you don't like eating mung beans, don't ask me to activate my ultimate skill.\" Doing this Yin Ziping cosplay with the Chalcedony ice core skin, this slightly tsundere line constantly popped into my head. Spending an entire afternoon bustling in the studio was all to capture the Chinese-style ACG aloof glamor of this skin. For the overall look, I chose a silver-white twin-tail wig paired with a modernized white short cheongsam and white stockings, following a pure white aesthetic accented with greyish-black ink wash floral patterns.
Honestly, the details of this outfit required quite a bit of thought. The dark grey bow tie at the collar, flutter sleeves and ruffles on the shoulders, and two teardrop cutout designs at the waist retain traditional cheongsam charm while infusing youthful ACG liveliness. Lighting inside the studio was very bright; high-key soft light cast on white clothing easily causes blown-out overexposure, severely testing the contrast between makeup and fabric textures. The photographer found great angles, allowing grey subtle patterns and floral embroidery on the dress to emerge clearly without flattening the entire outfit into a detail-less white block.
Regarding props, we prepared a thin sword and a white lace hollow folding fan. The sword-holding posture in the first photo felt more heroic and valiant, with a hint of wuxia flair; yet considering the soft texture of the garment and sweet vibe of twin tails, holding the folding fan better aligned with this skin's design. Whether sitting while holding the fan raised or kneeling while playing with it, both conveyed that blend of Chinese-style knightly heroics and ethereal magic. Furthermore, the white tassel on the folding fan added dynamic motion during swings and freezes, preventing static studio shots from feeling rigid.
For the background, we used a giant moon prop alongside white wooden flowering branches as foreground and side accents. Dark background panels offset the white moonlight realistically, while light-colored wooden daybeds were draped with semi-transparent white gauze bearing calligraphic script over plush blankets. The entire environment setup strove to create an aloof moonlit ambience. Although studio temperatures weren't low during shooting, maintaining smooth texture on white stockings required careful defense against snags and scratches, saving time in post-processing edits.
For makeup, to offset high-key brightness from all-white elements, I deliberately added reddish smudging under eyes and chose pinkish glossy lip color, preventing looking pale or washed out on camera. While appearing simple, combining white stockings, a short cheongsam, and twin tails into balanced proportions relies heavily on body posture control. Selecting this seated fan-raising photo as the cover was ideal because this angle clearly highlights the white folding fan while wonderfully extending leg lines paired with white stockings, looking completely relaxed and unconstrained.
Though doing cosplay is exhausting, bringing a beloved Chinese-style ACG character into reality through personal interpretation and understanding is deeply fulfilling.
