[Yu Linglong cosplay] Silver-Haired Kemonomimi Convention Photos: A Low-Angle Fantasy Challenge

From early preparation to the final edits, this set of convention photos for NARAKA: BLADEPOINT Yu Linglong took about half a month. The costume boasts immense detail: the gold chains and pearl drapes across the chest and waist easily caught harsh reflections under the convention's overhead lights, so I spent considerable time adjusting their placement to ensure they wouldn't tangle while walking. The wig was custom-ordered in straight silver-white long hair, with soft wisps framing the face, while the massive animal ears atop my head had to be pinned securely to the wig net in advance; otherwise, a slight bump in the crowded con hall would knock them askew. The makeup focused on vivid bright blue contact lenses and a clear, translucent complexion. To channel her detached, cool temperament, the eye makeup was kept intentionally clean without heavy smudging, complemented by a dewy reddish lip.

The shoot took place in a spacious convention hall where dense overhead metal trusses and round downlights created an industrial, stark vibe that contrasted delightfully with the sheer white chiffon and metallic accessories. The photographer was fantastic at choosing angles; the second final shot utilized an ultra-low upward perspective. To match this framing, I sat on a black equipment road case with legs curled and hands loosely clasped over my knees, fingers extended forward. While the pose looks relaxed, engaging the core continuously and sustaining clean leg muscle lines required over ten minutes of holding before capturing that effortless moment. The white furry anklets with golden bells were adorable yet slipped off easily, so I only wore them during stationary shots and held them while moving around.

The pose in the first photo was even more challenging: leaning back while seated on the floor with one leg raised demanded exceptional balance. The convention floor was quite hard, bruising my tailbone slightly, and the torso-leg twist left my body aching when getting up. However, these physical efforts were indispensable for conveying that lightweight yet visually arresting energy. Expressing movements goes beyond rigid posing—the synthesis of eye contact and body language is the soul. During the shoot, I visualized the character's setting, maintaining a distant, enigmatic gaze rather than staring blankly at the lens.

For post-processing, AI-assisted face retouching was used. Convention lighting is notoriously tricky, with overhead downlights casting deep facial shadows, compounded by long wear and sweat that affect skin texture. The AI tool mainly helped balance skin tones and soften harsh shadows to align the facial contours with the character's aesthetic, while preserving the authentic body postures and ambient background lighting structures. I believe AI serves as a practical helper that saves time on tedious skin smoothing, but the essence of cosplay remains genuine physical expressiveness, costume craftsmanship, and raw emotional delivery on set; over-relying on it risks losing that vivid, lifelike authenticity. I'm thrilled to have attempted such demanding poses while faithfully highlighting the costume and accessory details.
