This time cosplaying Hsin from Wuthering Waves, the texture and details of this costume really took a lot of effort for me to adjust. The main body of the clothing is made of satin and tulle materials with a micro-shimmer reflection. The red, white, and gold color scheme is quite demanding on lighting in reality; if it's slightly too dark, it loses that gorgeous sense of layering. To achieve the ideal effect, I specially chose an afternoon, utilizing side-backlighting to illuminate the hair strands and clothing edges. The off-shoulder design has relatively high requirements for the shoulder and neck lines; before the shoot, I spent a little time stretching so that the posture looked more relaxed. The gold metal leg rings on my legs are also the finishing touch; the connection points of the chains and metal parts needed to be carefully fastened, otherwise they would easily get stuck or slide down when kneeling and sitting on the plush rug, which was a big challenge during the shooting process.

The wig was the main focus of preparation this time. The white-gold long curly hair easily looks frizzy or rigid. I used a flat iron to curl out the ends strand by strand, and then teased out a bit of fluffiness. Paired with the golden star-shaped hair accessory on top of the head, the overall look has more of an airy feel. The layering of the hairstyle is very important, so I spent a lot of time trimming and fixing it to ensure that when turning the head in front of the lens, no flaws would be exposed from any angle, and light could penetrate the hair strands to form a nice rim light.

In terms of scene arrangement, to fit that fantasy yet traditional charm setting in Wuthering Waves, I prepared a Chinese-style wooden low table with an unfolded scroll of bamboo slips placed on it, embellished with a few maple leaves next to it. A thick white plush rug was laid on the ground, and the background was blocked with light gauze drapery to increase the layering of the frame. Regarding light and shadow, this time I tried a relatively soft warm-toned lighting, giving the frame a warm, dreamy texture. The woven texture of the tabletop and the details of the bamboo slips looked especially realistic under the warm light.

In the performance of actions and demeanor, the character Hsin from Wuthering Waves gave me the feeling of being quiet, elegant, and carrying a hint of mystery. Therefore, I didn't design too large movement amplitudes; most of the time was spent kneeling and sitting on the rug, with hands slightly clasped in front of the chest, eyes lowering slightly, or casting the gaze toward the maple leaves outside the frame. Such restrained actions can instead better highlight the character's temperament. During the shoot, I also tried some profile angles, cooperating with hand movements to make the body language richer. During post-processing color grading, I deliberately preserved the softness of the highlights without pulling up the contrast too much, wanting to make the frame look more translucent.

In the process of preparing this styling, I repeatedly contemplated the background and personality of Hsin in this work. She is not just a character with a gorgeous appearance, but more importantly, an inner sense of tranquility. Therefore, in choosing props, I deliberately avoided overly complex and flashy decorations, choosing instead elements with cultural symbols like bamboo slips, hoping to use such simple props to set off the character's inner traits. The lighting at the shooting site was adjusted for a long time, wanting to create a feeling as if being in a dream or some kind of barrier. The white plush rug and the gauze drapery behind interacted with each other, making the light very diffuse so that the light falling on the character was entirely soft. During breaks in the shoot, I would also look at the monitor screen to timely adjust the clothing wrinkles and the direction of the wig, ensuring every single photo was in a perfect state. The overall shooting experience this time was extremely pleasant; watching the envisioned images gradually present themselves through the lens, that sense of achievement is hard to describe in words. I hope this persistence in details can also be conveyed to the photos everyone sees.
