For this Hsin cosplay photoshoot, a great deal of thought went into everything from the costume to the set design, and I am very satisfied with the final photos.
First, talking about the costume, this piece is the craftsmanship of @苏师傅拉面铺. The striking contrast of red, black, white, and gold is remarkably eye-catching. The corseted bodice structure on the upper body, combined with the prominent sapphire pendant at the chest, beautifully accentuates the character's demeanor. The water sleeves are exceptionally wide; when walking or lifting my arms, the billowing flow of the sleeves perfectly matches the agile, slightly mysterious nature of a fox spirit. The skirt features a high-slit design paired with clear-soled high-heeled sandals, which allows easy movement while making leg lines look even more slender. The fabric's overall texture and subtle jacquard patterns look premium under the lens, without any cheap glare.
For styling and makeup, smoothing and styling this wig with White fox ears took considerable effort. The white animal ears with black tips offer an authentic, fluffy texture, and wearing them instantly makes the face appear smaller. The bangs combined with golden flower tassel hair ornaments on the sides nicely neutralize the monotony of dominant white hair. For makeup, I chose red eyeshadow and red colored contacts because, in Hsin's original design, red eyes and eye makeup perfectly match the gap-moe contrast of a fox spirit's cool yet seductive aura. The slightly upturned red eyeliner allows the gaze to convey richer storytelling before the camera.
I must praise @飞鱼Fiyu for the set design of this Chinese-style Xianxia shoot. The setup utilized abundant traditional elements—bamboo groves, black stone lanterns, long calligraphy silk drapes, a full-moon screen in the background, and red plum blossoms—almost flawlessly recreating the fantasy martial arts realm in my mind. During shooting, we added plenty of smoke effects; light filtering through the haze onto my face brought out exquisite visual depth. I particularly love the close-up holding the calligraphy brush (Photo 3), where light focuses on the eyes and hairpins, with soft depth-of-field handling on the background and body contours directing focus straight to the expression. The shots sitting on a low couch lined with white fur utilized the plush softness of the fur to form a wonderful visual contrast with the rigid stone lanterns and wooden lattice behind.
Before shooting this set, I was slightly worried that the White fox ears and wig might look overly heavy on camera, or that transparent heels might make standing poses appear stiff. However, during the actual Cosplay photography session, alternating between different sitting and standing poses—such as slightly curling my legs, leaning against the fur, or casually crossing my ankles—nicely brought out the airy lightness of the outfit. Furthermore, the barefoot shots paired with red plum blossoms and straw mat flooring added an aura of effortless, unconstrained freedom.
Although the entire shoot was somewhat tiring—given the intricate costume details and the risk of messing up hair accessories with large movements—under the photographer's guidance, the aesthetics of the final photos far exceeded expectations. This series avoided excessive post-processing, preserving natural skin textures and the atmospheric ambiance of the set, making it captivating to look at repeatedly. The overall fidelity and atmosphere of this Hsin cosplay make it one of my most satisfying recent works from Wuthering Waves.
