[Hiyuki Cosplay] Snow-Colored Capriccio in Wuthering Waves

The teaser photos are finally out! This time, I’m showcasing Hiyuki from Wuthering Waves. The photographer and I communicated repeatedly from the very beginning regarding the styling and atmosphere of this character, ultimately deciding to carry out this creation within a traditional Japanese washitsu room.

Let's talk about the hair and makeup first. To stay true to the character's feel, I chose a long, straight, silver-white wig. The thickness and fluffiness of the hair strands were carefully adjusted to achieve a smooth drape while preserving a certain messy beauty. The small red embellishments on the headpiece serve as the perfect finishing touch, breaking up the monotony of the all-white look and adding visual layers. For the makeup, I focused on skin translucency; the eye makeup used warm tones to soften my gaze, paired with high-saturation red lips so that the face maintained its dimensionality under the soft light, preventing it from being washed out by the light-colored hair.

The costume details are also worth mentioning. The white sleeveless top for the upper body incorporates black shoulder straps and piping; this simple black-and-white contrast gives the upper silhouette a very sharp structure. The dark fabric of the lower body features complex interwoven tie-downs using white rope knots, showcasing different forms between tension and looseness. In the reclining pose, these white ropes add rich texture and linear dynamics to the frame. The red fabric scattered as an accent to the side echoes the hair ornaments, making the color composition of the picture more complete.

Regarding the choice of poses, this reclining perspective was a challenge compared to previous standing or dynamic actions. After lying down, fully concentrating on controlling my breathing to keep the shoulder and neck lines relaxed yet not slack required complete focus. The high-angle camera position combined with a shallow depth of field perfectly guides the viewer's eyes to the details of the face and neckline. My gaze didn't deliberately stare at the lens; instead, it carried a hint of casual softness, hoping to convey that exact touch of cool aloofness and laziness of the character within a still frame.

The tatami floor of the shooting scene and the blurred wooden shoji doors in the background provided a very clean, light-toned base that didn’t overshadow the subject. Natural light diffused in from the side, creating a very soft light-and-shadow transition on the face, avoiding harsh contrast between brightness and darkness, and perfectly showcasing both the skin texture and the translucency of the white hair.

Although this is just a teaser set, the experience of the entire shoot felt incredibly fulfilling. While selecting the photos, I found that many seemingly casual moments actually captured the character's traits much better. Behind every cosplay work—from wig styling, makeup design, and outfit adjustments to syncing movements with the photographer—it is the result of everyone's joint efforts. This attempt at a gentle yet cool aesthetic can be considered a small breakthrough in my roleplay character-shaping ability. I hope these teaser images spark more anticipation for the final anime-style photography photos, and they also give me better ideas for next time in my coser daily life.
