A great deal of thought went into material selection and structural design for this Demon King Amiya cosplay costume. The outer white fabric carries an inherent cool luster; I deliberately incorporated extensive irregular tearing along the skirt hem and cuffs, splicing numerous black geometric fragments to echo the character's internal contradiction and destructive aura.
Crafting the headpiece was quite complex: the multi-faceted black geometric shapes and long beads on both sides required constant adjustments to maintain balance, and securing the gradient animal ears on top was equally challenging. To recreate that eerie, oppressive presence from the character art, I chose a cool-toned pale foundation with blended red eyeshadow and bold crimson lips, paired with light blue contact lenses. Adjusting my gaze in the mirror, it truly felt on point.
On the day of the shoot, the greatest test of endurance was the massive pair of white wings on my back. To support the overall silhouette, the wings were quite heavy, and paired with the black spikes adorning the shoulders, larger movements were somewhat restricted. Our photographer used a Sony A7R6 paired with a 28-70mm F2 GM lens; wide open at F2, the image quality was exceptionally sharp. We shot in a pure white classical architectural set, utilizing the Roman pillars and steps to explore various poses including sitting, crouching, and standing. My favorite is the shot sitting on a pillar with legs crossed—it beautifully showcases the leg lines, and paired with the glowing black egg prop in my arms, the interplay of light and shadow across my face and skirt instantly brought out the overall atmosphere.
The black egg-shaped prop in my hands was crafted specifically for this photoshoot, with LED light strips embedded within the surface cracks. In low-key lighting, its cool white illumination not only lit up my face, but also cast vivid reflections on the white outfit, adding rich dimension to the shot. During the shoot, I frequently adjusted my body angle, using staggered leg positioning to break up visual stiffness, while aligning my hands with the prop's contour to make the composition feel fuller.
Throughout portraying this character, I was constantly seeking a balance between divinity and demonic nature. Lord of Fiends Amiya embodies many conflicting elements—such as white wings against black armor, or an immaculate skirt juxtaposed with torn abrasions. While posing, I intentionally kept my expression from looking too soft, instilling a sense of scrutiny and icy detachment. Especially when crouching while holding the glowing prop, I pulled back my usual expressions to channel that desperate, fractured aura. The shoot went exceptionally smoothly overall, and I am thrilled with the resulting lighting texture and costume details.
