For Takanashi Hoshino's school uniform look from Blue Archive, I chose a real outdoor green belt and a common set of school desks and chairs as the scene this time, trying my best to recreate her daily atmosphere at Abydos High School. The long straight pink hair paired with the glowing halo floating above her head, along with the iconic heterochromia contact lenses, are several core elements for shaping this character. To prevent the bangs from blocking the line of sight, the wig's layers were specially trimmed during styling.
In terms of costume coordination, the white shirt, bright blue tie, black suspenders, and dark gray plaid pleated skirt construct a classic student uniform framework. However, the tactical half-finger gloves and the suspender buckles on the chest add a hint of tension fit for combat personnel, matching her setting as a member of the Abydos Foreclosure Task Force. Regarding props, that long-barrel shotgun feels quite heavy in hand, and the black, white, and red body details achieve a high level of accuracy. During the shoot, special attention had to be paid to the positioning angle of the firearm to avoid obscuring the facial contours; meanwhile, when sitting still, the weight of the gun body required deliberately maintaining a stable posture.
The lighting of the day was natural diffuse light under a clear sky, soft and not glaring, which is perfect for this fresh campus style shoot. The photographer adopted a low, eye-level angle, which not only blurred the background greenery just right but also made the posture while sitting at the school desk and chair look more relaxed. To find that unique laziness characteristic of Hoshino, I intentionally relaxed my shoulders, let my legs dangle naturally, and slightly adjusted the sharpness in my gaze. Actually, when doing a cosplay for this 2D character, the hardest part to master is not the handling of the weapon, but rather her temperament—appearing cynical and carefree on the surface but possessing an unshakeable will inside—which needs to be conveyed through subtle hand movements and shifts in eye contact. Judging from the event photos, the overall color saturation, atmosphere, and the accurate combination of props and uniform all met expectations perfectly.
