The photoshoot process for this Descent of the Snow Mountain styling was actually far more intricate than expected. When receiving this costume, what caught my attention most was that red geometric-patterned prop, which carried substantial weight in hand. To capture rich texture under dark-toned, Dark style cosplay lighting, the lighting technician specifically set backlight from the rear flank so the red tie and the deep green horns atop my head could reflect beautiful highlights. Wearing the red contact lenses was also meticulous—since hair veiled half of my face, the eyeliner shape and the brightness of the contacts had to be continually adjusted so the gaze could still pierce through the shadows. The hardest part during shooting was the wig: securing that eye-covering strand of hair took considerable effort, as tilting or lowering my head easily caused it to slip or obstruct the other eye, making facial expression control tricky. The makeup artist touched up my makeup over a dozen times on set to guarantee facial highlight placement and skin translucency. The white fabric of the costume is quite sheer, so multiple base layers were worn underneath to create rich visual depth. During shooting, I was reminded to relax my shoulders—loosening shoulder tension kept the silhouette light and graceful, fitting Dusk's aloof yet subtly intimidating aura. In terms of accessory refinement, the red tie and metal buckles were repositioned repeatedly to stay securely in place. Because this tie is rather long and swung easily with body motion, we secured it to the outfit with invisible pins. Pre-production preparation took longer than anticipated—from wig styling to hair and makeup design took about two weeks, and the horns were custom-made. To stay true to the character design, we did not cut any corners on wig or prop details. The entire session took over four hours due to testing numerous angles. The photographer was very patient, and my favorite shot from this set is this half-body portrait. I feel its composition is spot-on, showcasing a facial close-up while incorporating props and costume details. In post-production, we preserved the background bokeh and lifted shadow details to make the sheen on the eyes and horns stand out even more. Although the props were heavy, the wig long, and the outfit intricate, seeing the final photos made all the preparation and hard work feel entirely worthwhile. The red tie and cross embellishments on the outfit, paired with the pointed Elf ears cosplay, lend the whole look an unexpectedly sacred aura. That is the true charm of Arknights designs—blending diverse elements in harmonious unison. On set, neither the AC nor the heater was on, so we pushed through relying purely on the heat radiated by the studio lights. Standing before the reflector board, I could feel the warmth of the light sweeping across my face. To capture the most natural angles, I tried numerous standing postures and only rested once the photographer gave the green light. This styling brought a completely fresh experience. Staying focused is truly a form of enjoyment.
