[Mona cosplay] Genshin Impact Astrologer's Magical Moment: Wandering Through Purple Light and Starlight

I actually prepared a lot for dressing up in this Mona cosplay outfit this time, especially matching the hair and contact lenses. To faithfully restore the aura of this astrologer in Genshin Impact, emerald-green contact lenses combined with deep purple hair were an essential combination. When trimming the wig, I intentionally left layered, staggered edges for the bangs; rather than a perfectly neat hime cut, this slightly casual curvature feels more like a hairstyle a magical girl who spends all her time immersed in books and astrolabes would have. It also prevented the hat from messing up my hair entirely when moving around indoor sets with heavy wind.

When I got the costume, my first impression was that the quality was quite good—the transition between the top corset and bottom bodysuit was smooth. However, to achieve that snug fit matching the character design, I had to repeatedly adjust the transparent shoulder straps and ribbons. The cut-out design at the chest needed to be cinched according to my body shape to avoid the edges flipping up, and the stitching along the mesh and fabric was reinforced. The star pendant around the neck uses a magnetic clasp, making it super convenient to put on without fumbling with hook loops.

The most dramatic elements were the massive wizard hat and the red cape flowing behind. The hat's interior had structured shaping; though wide and dramatic, once put on, its center of gravity tended to pull my head backward. During the shoot, I had to constantly maintain neck tension, otherwise the hat would tilt forward or crookedly. The red cape hanging behind needed to look flowing while not blocking the light.

In the shooting set, we intentionally pulled up white gauze curtains, with warm string lights twinkling nearby. Combined with purplish-pink ambient lighting during the shoot, the overall environment created a mystical, magical feel. When posing for this Anime cosplay session, I felt the gesture in Photo 1—lightly resting my fingertip against my chin—perfectly captured Mona's subtle tsundere charm, as if saying, "I have already foreseen your fate." The hand-on-hip pose in Photo 2 aimed to showcase the astrologer's confident side, while the slightly turned-around angle in Photo 3 completely presented the front-to-back layers of the clothing and waist-leg lines.

The combination of stockings and thigh straps served as a visual bonus in this look. To look better proportioned before the camera in this Stocking outfit, I pulled the thigh-strap position slightly higher. Paired with black-and-gold star buckles, it formed a great visual extension alongside the deep brown fabric on the lower body.

The entire shoot lasted about two to three hours, requiring repeated adjustments of highlight positions under different lighting angles to prevent the hat brim from casting shadows over my face. Furthermore, because the costume is form-fitting and off-shoulder, every gesture needed careful attention so movement wouldn't stretch or distort the outfit. Although there were many technical details to mind during the shoot, obtaining these photos filled with character atmosphere brought a deep sense of accomplishment. Roleplay in cosplay is probably just like this: putting on the character's attire, wearing their wig, stepping into the lights to experience a brief moment of their life. This process of bringing a 2D image into 3D reality is inherently a deeply meaningful endeavor.
