This Kamisato Ayaka Anime cosplay set was shot inside a Japanese-style studio. The scene was arranged with wooden lattice screen partitions and artificial snow, combined with a single white plum blossom branch in the distance, aiming to evoke the refined, cool, and gentle aura of the Shirasagi Himegimi.
Regarding the styling, the wig selected was a soft ice blue styled into twin pigtails, secured with pink ribbons and teal-blue flower hair accessories. To restore character details from Genshin Impact, a pearl necklace adorned the neck. Outfit-wise, the light blue kimono was covered in jacquard motifs of cherry blossoms and folding fans, featuring a light pink inner lining at the collar for a subtle pop of color.
In planning the two main photos, for Figure 1 I adopted a kneeling pose on one knee, holding a light blue drawstring pouch printed with a cartoon bunny, hoping to express her softer, playful everyday side. Figure 2, chosen as the cover, featured a half-body standing posture holding a black folding fan. Strong rim lighting was intentionally used for this shot; you can see the twin pigtail hair strands glowing translucent under the backlighting, creating richer visual layering alongside the wooden lattice and flower branches behind.
Many friends might wonder about the lighting concept for this ethereal Japanese-style photography style. The primary light source relied on soft ambient lighting to avoid harsh facial shadows and ensure clear skin tone; meanwhile, side rim lighting was dedicated to outlining the hair and shoulders. This not only made the character pop out from the dark background, but also enhanced the three-dimensional texture of the traditional attire.
When it came to selecting props, besides the folding fan and bunny pouch, I initially prepared a small umbrella. However, after test shots, having too many elements tended to steal focus from the outfit, so I decided to streamline—keeping only the fan and background white plum blossom to maintain a clean composition. The venue was quite cold during shooting, the fake snow on the floor had a crisp crunching feel underfoot, and the twin pigtails occasionally snagged on flower branches when turning around, leading to various small interludes on set. Yet these authentic interactions gave the imagery a vivid, natural presence.
In post-processing, the primary focus was adjusting overall color tones, keeping them balanced between high saturation and cool hues. This ensured the aquatic blue fabric and hair color harmonized perfectly while retaining natural skin texture without over-smoothing. The cherry blossom patterns on the costume reflected light under specific angles, which were fine-tuned in post to make the textures more pronounced. The overarching goal was to capture that dignified, serene, yet youthful character identity. The production journey and final image output of this set make it a deeply satisfying creative endeavor for me.
