[Lauma Cosplay] The Forest Guardian from Genshin Impact's Song of the Welkin Moon

Launching this new Lauma look in the Year of the Horse, I took the opportunity to incorporate a bit of festive ritual, choosing to complete this photoshoot in a natural woodland setting.

In terms of preparation, the layering of this forest-style outfit was one of the core challenges in production. High-temperature synthetic fibers were chosen for the long purple hair; to present natural curves for the ends and bangs, several fitting and styling sessions were conducted. The pair of curled white headpieces required a sturdy, lightweight internal skeleton due to numerous curved angles, supporting the shape without adding heavy burden to the head. The green gem on the neck choker is a major visual center of this look, with its gold-and-black base paired with high-saturation green stone reflecting nice luster under natural light.

The entire outfit primarily adopts a spliced design of blue, white, and black, with an off-the-shoulder top utilizing golden edging to outline lines. The blue leaf-like structures and plush trim wrapped around the arms add richness to the outfit. What satisfies me most is the layers of light blue translucent tulle cascading around the waist and sides.

For wig care, to maintain the smoothness of the purple hair, careful combing was required before shooting to avoid frizz and tangles. For makeup, I intentionally enhanced three-dimensional facial contouring to balance the visual thickness of the wig. Particularly for eye makeup, I tried naturally extended eyeliner to complement the upturned elf ear silhouettes, making overall facial proportions look more harmonious.

The environment for this shoot was chosen in a virgin forest covered in moss, where background thick white tree trunks and mossy ground unified the color palette. The first photo attempted a tilted compositional angle, with me leaning against a plant-covered tree root. To keep this posture stable, I had to adjust my center of gravity while avoiding direct friction between the skirt hem and mud. The photographer used hard lighting to illuminate the subject, highlighting light and shadow effects on the purple hair and curled horns, appropriately showcasing the ratio of coverage and exposure along the outfit's side.

The second photo shifted to a front half-body composition, extending my hand forward with a level gaze to capture a sense of dynamic protection and relaxed charm. The photographer used a wide aperture to softly blur the green foliage in the background, locking visual focus firmly onto my facial expression and the choker gem.

As for the flowing tulle fabric, strong outdoor winds could easily blow it into disarray or snag it on branches, so at the moment the shutter pressed, I constantly paid attention to wind direction and adjusted skirt placement. This experience of collaborating with nature added difficulty but made final photos more vivid and real. Although encountering mosquito bites and backache from maintaining poses on uneven tree roots during the shoot, these were all overcome for the final results.

This shoot served as a complete personal endeavor—from selecting lightweight props to pairing fabric textures, and controlling outdoor shoot conditions—giving me a deeper understanding of the character concept. The final images present not only forest tranquility but also the character's unique agility.
