[Mudrock Cosplay] Arknights Summer Beach, the Perfect Match of a Black Swimsuit and Light Gauze

This time, I tried the summer swimsuit look of Mudrock from Arknights, striving to recreate the character's refreshing feel under the summer beach theme from the wig to the accessories. The black bikini top features a fabric with subtle shimmers. The criss-cross ribbon bow on the chest and the halter-neck black straps present great layers under the sunlight. What took the most thought was that semi-transparent black light gauze—it is neither a simple long skirt nor a shawl, but casually wrapped around the waist and arms. During the shoot, I intentionally let the gauze skirt scatter in the sand so that whether I am sitting or adjusting my sitting posture, the gauze fabric will naturally drape or float, giving the entire frame more dynamic movement and a breathing feel.

The texture of the sand in this studio beach photoshoot was wonderful, paired with a blue-and-white striped wooden beach chair, surfboards, lifebuoys, as well as fruits and a cooler box on the nearby white round table, creating a highly realistic indoor beach vacation scene. To fit the temperament of the character Mudrock, I chose a relatively fair skin tone and pink-purple eye makeup, coordinated with light red-colored contacts, along with her iconic black dragon horns and flower headpiece. This ensured the overall look preserved the character's recognition while blending in the unique casualness and liveliness of summer. During the shooting process, I tried various sitting postures—such as resting my chin on one hand to meet the camera's gaze, or gently resting my feet on the edge of the small side table, with each shot showing a different flow of emotions. Personally, my favorites are the ones where I made a playful hand gesture, looking cute without being too forced.

In fact, a lot of thought was also put into the arrangement of the props, such as the placement angle of that blue-and-white lifebuoy in the background and the cantaloupe placed in the wooden box on the right. These small details make the frame richer and give it more of a slice-of-life feel. With the cooperation of the photographer, the overall lighting utilized a warm-toned side-front light, which both made the skin look translucent and fully brought out the texture of the black swimsuit and light gauze. The character Mudrock herself is quite steady and even a bit dorky in the game, but putting on a swimsuit exhibits a kind of gap moe, so I hope this group of photos can deliver the coolness and comfort that summer should have while recreating the setting. Although the light gauze of this outfit is beautiful, it indeed required attention to tidy up during shooting, otherwise it could easily get tangled in the chair back or the sand, but the final outcome is highly satisfying.

The entire process was shot very pleasantly. Although this kind of indoor beach setup doesn't have the sea breeze and sunset like a real seaside, it wins in controllable lighting and flexible props, which can better highlight the costume and the subject itself.
