[Durandal Cosplay] Honkai Impact 3rd Peerless Scholar, Birthday Limited Photoset Teaser - Image 2

The preparation of this Peerless Scholar-themed photoset set a gorgeous, Chinese-style fantasy fusion style during the early planning stage. Compared to conventional battlesuits, this outfit makes a highly ingenious combination between traditional Chinese elements and modern fantasy. The blue-and-gold embroidered neck wrap is the entire visual center, with complex blue patterns laid on a black base fabric and adorned with gold thread; this high-contrast color scheme is highly eye-catching on camera. The coat adopts an asymmetrical design, with a large black sleeve decorated with white four-petal flower textures on the left, and a wide white sleeve with light blue spiral lines on the right. Paired with the inner black bustier with gold trim, the overall look is rich in layering. The wig features blonde hair with orange-pink gradient highlights, adding texture to the hair color. Meanwhile, under the strong side backlighting, the edges of the hair strands present a highly translucent rim light. The pointed ear accessories in the photos are paired with blue contact lenses and red-toned eyeshadow, giving the entire makeup look a touch of warmth amidst the cool tones.

The highlight of the shoot lies in dynamic capturing. To restore the character's flowing elegance during combat, the team specially set up strong side backlighting to outline the glowing effect of the hair strands. Especially in the fluttering long hair of Photo 2, the photographer and I had to repeatedly try different wind directions and hair-flipping strength back and forth to balance the natural drape of the hair strands with a steady facial expression. The black long-shaft prop has a solid material, with anti-slip texture wrapped around the grip. When holding it upright, maintaining a stable core is essential to look effortless in dynamic shots. The blue contact lenses in the final photos are saturated in color, which, paired with the gradient eyeshadow, makes the gaze more focused. The wooden comb-like crown on the head and the blue four-petal flower hair accessories also make the character's facial contours look more delicate.

Considering the commemorative significance of her birthday milestone, we not only strove for exquisite costumes but also did a lot of homework on the light and shadow atmosphere. The studio features a neutral gray background. By constantly adjusting the angle between the key light and the rim light, we precisely presented the reflections on the costume's embroidery and gold threads. In particular, the stitching at the splicing position of the bustier and sleeves reveals clear textures under side lighting, which heavily tests the tailor's craftsmanship. To express that piercing temperament in the photos, I had to control my muscle tension at all times during the shoot. Especially for the actions of holding the long-shaft weapon and raising my arms, repeated positioning was required to find the coolest angle.

Although the final photoset is not yet fully presented, the two teaser images already show the basic tone of the entire series. To prevent spoilers, blue decorative font watermarks were added to the key parts of the costume in these images. Although they obscure the clothing details to some extent, such as the gold trim at the waist and the structure of the chest, the light and dark relationships of the overall color blocks are beautifully preserved. While completing this styling, I also deeply felt the uniqueness of this outfit's structure. Putting on and taking off the outfit multiple times required careful handling of the collar and wide sleeves. The pendants and tassels on the body often needed constant adjustment to maintain a natural draping state, putting the fabric's drape to the test. These challenges during the Anime cosplay process are exactly where its charm lies.

Just like the temperament conveyed by this character, this look carries a touch of toughness on top of its gorgeousness. The combination of highly saturated blue and black, paired with large areas of gold embellishments, made all elements stand out in three dimensions under the spotlight. This set of photos is not just a simple record of images; I hope it serves as a work of earnest interpretation of the character. There were actually many interesting behind-the-scenes anecdotes during this shoot, such as my hair suddenly getting into my eyes because of the wind, requiring us to pick the perfect frame of expression and movement from continuous shooting. This set of photos is still undergoing final color correction and retouching. I am already highly satisfied to be able to release them ahead of time as the first teaser for her birthday. Now, with the protection of the watermark, it also leaves a sense of suspense for the official photoset. Regarding camera composition, whether it is half-body close-ups or full-body dynamic captures, paying attention to the extensibility of body language was the part I learned the most from during this shoot.
