This time, shooting in a shadowless studio, the core idea was to present a strong sense of a lively person, so throughout the process, we kept adjusting the tension of movements and expressions. To fit the characteristics of the character Sunna, I put a lot of effort into action references. Compared to standing quietly, I preferred using single-leg jumps, slightly leaning forward and reaching out, or sitting directly on geometric blocks to break the dullness of the frame. Such big movements not only allowed the fold layers of the black pleated skirt to fully unfold, but also made the pink-and-white striped slouch socks more prominent in front of the lens.
The restoration of costume details is the key to building the character's sense of credibility. The light golden-green slightly curly wig matched with blunt bangs, plus the green triangle hair accessory on top of the head and the small black hair clip in front of the forehead, instantly maximized the two-dimensional vibe of the styling. The upper body's white short-sleeved shirt features delicate ruffled cuffs, paired with that red tie printed with star and wing patterns, standing out vividly against the solid-color background. For the lower body, besides the multi-layered black ruffled skirt, I paid special attention to the leg details. White long base stockings layered with thick knit pink-and-white striped leg warmers create a cute, bulky feel. The brown leather leg ring tied around the thigh, the pink small square bag, and the black straps with blue bows added a bit of tech-wear style contrast to the overall look.
The giant pink megaphone gun in my hand is definitely the visual focus. The white gun body, black mesh structure, and blue bow decoration, along with the "STAFF" lettering on the edge of the horn muzzle, give it a full sense of weight when held in hand. When posing, I would deliberately make the lines of the gun body echo the momentum of the body—for example, when sitting on the block, holding the prop with both hands and looking directly at the lens, creating a very strong sense of interaction.
The background was chosen to be a clean, light gray shadowless wall. This minimalist environment removed the interference of all cluttered elements, and the lighting was even and soft, allowing the texture of the clothes and the skin tone of the character to be showcased to the maximum extent. The photographer Masamune Yu was very sharp during candid shots, guiding me to make all kinds of playful expressions. In fact, during studio shooting, maintaining a high-energy state all the time really tests physical strength, especially doing single-leg jump movements while wearing thick-soled pink shoes, which requires the core to remain constantly tightened. But every time I saw those vivid moments in the camera playback, I felt it was all totally worth it. Whether tilting my head slightly or looking directly into the lens with a smile, I hope to convey that warm and brisk feeling to anyone who sees the photos.
