[Hatsune Miku cosplay] Ice-blue angel descends upon the Dreamland Anime Convention - Image 2

The convention photos of this Hatsune Miku shoot at the Dreamland Anime Convention are finally out. Walking around the venue in this ice-blue angel styling was actually quite challenging. The wig features long twin tails; to maintain that flowing yet neat texture, I used a whole can of setting spray before heading out and gave the hair roots a slight crimping treatment with a hair crimper to increase support. This bright blue wig would look fake once overly reflective, so when choosing the wig, I specifically picked matte high-temperature fiber and used a straightener to make subtle curves along the hair flow. In terms of makeup, to fit the aloof feel of the ice blue, the eyeshadow used a cool-toned blue-purple transition, the contact lenses were highly translucent ice blue, and highlighter was applied to the inner corners of the eyes and the tip of the nose to enhance the facial three-dimensional feel. For the base makeup, I chose a semi-matte foundation, followed by setting the whole face with loose powder to ensure it wouldn't get oily during high-intensity walking at the convention.
The layering of the costume is very rich; the upper body features a corseted bustier design, inner-layered with a patterned shirt, and the sleeves are large trumpet sleeves that look extremely photogenic when flung around. However, the most strenuous parts were still the giant feather wings on the back and this ice-crystal-textured skirt. To present a lightweight, spread-out state in front of the lens, I used a hidden transparent shoulder strap and harness system for fixation, and pinned the base of the wings tightly to the inner lining of the clothes with safety pins, so that no displacement would occur when bending over or half-kneeling. The lower body's white stockings combined with the bow-tied garter straps at the thighs wonderfully flattered the leg shape, which, paired with this posture of half-kneeling on the ice-crystal base, made the leg lines look even more slender. Pay attention to the tightness of the garter straps: too tight affects blood circulation, while too loose slips down during movement, requiring repeated adjustments.
In terms of props, although the huge ice-crystal snowflake staff was very exquisite, wrapped with glowing ribbons, holding it for a long time still made my hands quite sore. The material of the staff is acrylic plus PVC tubing, which actually has a certain weight, so I specially practiced the center of gravity for holding the staff with one hand. That floating halo headpiece was fixed in the wig using thin wire; to ensure the visual floating feel, the wire was hidden deep within the hair strands. Shooting on-site at the anime convention, the most troublesome part was the cluttered lighting, so when looking for angles, we specifically chose areas with circular spotlights on the ceiling, utilizing the venue's high-level lighting as the key light, and supplementing with a portable LED stick light at the front side, which brilliantly highlighted the wig's luster and the costume's texture. When encountering heavy crowds on-site, the photographer would use a large-aperture lens to blur the background crowd and highlight the main subject.
To match the Dreamland theme, post-processing made the overall color temperature cooler, increased the ambient blue light rendering, and added falling feather and light point special effects without destroying the original photo's skin texture. While shooting this set of pictures, I kept my abdomen pulled in and chest puffed out the whole time; although tiring, seeing the final photo results felt truly rewarding. Especially the finger actions and the turning of the gaze required precise control to present that sense of snow mixed with divinity and gentleness. When cosplaying with such huge props and wings, it is recommended to prepare a small cart for the convention, otherwise carrying it all on your back will truly lead to physical exhaustion. The shooting process for this set of convention photos was filled with joy and recorded many interesting moments at the convention.
