This private photo session for Yosuga no Sora's Caelus cosplay took about half a month to prepare from conception to realization. The venue was chosen as an antique tavern real-scene studio with log tones paired with stone walls. The entire space comes with a sense of secret isolation from the world, which perfectly matches the character's atmosphere in my heart. To match this calm yet slightly tense environment, in terms of lighting, we mainly relied on the natural diffuse reflection from the side windows, plus an old-fashioned kerosene lamp in hand as a warm-toned point light source to form a contrast of light and shadow on the face, so that the texture of the raw photos straight out of the camera was already very solid.

For clothing, a white off-the-shoulder vest paired with black shorts was chosen, with a small black bow tied at the neckline, along with white bunny ears cosplay hair accessories and split sleevelets. The lower body was matched with stockings cosplay in black and black high heels with straps; this black-and-white lightweight outfit has both an everyday feel and a bit of playful rebellion. The metal lantern carried in hand was specially sourced; the glass lampshade glowed with a slight yellow tint, and the moment the light shone through, the retro atmosphere of the entire scene was brightened. The gray plush rabbit next to it was also purposely placed by me as a small companion element in the frame, matching the overall wooden scene very well.

In character portrayal, Caelus's emotions are complex and stubborn. I didn't choose the conventional sweet poses, but instead sat cross-legged on the wooden bar counter, looking straight into the lens, hoping to convey an invitation and certainty. Picture one focuses more on the upper body, with the lantern's light outlining the texture of the face and clothes; picture two pulls back the framing, incorporating the stockings cosplay, high heels, and everyday props placed on the table such as bread, wine bottles, and apples into the composition, giving the entire frame more storytelling.

The cooperation on-site with photographer @小鱼 was extremely tacit, and his sensitivity to light and shadow is very high. To capture the best angle of the lantern shining on the face, we repeatedly tried different arm-raising heights and the subtle retraction amplitude of the chin. We also adjusted the small props on the table several times so that they were distributed in the frame in an orderly manner, not stealing the spotlight while enriching the background. While shooting this set of pictures, I kept thinking that if I really wanted to escape to a place, it would probably be such a dim yet secure little tavern. I am personally very satisfied with the subtle sense of tug-of-war conveyed by these two finally frozen photos.
