[Shirasu Azusa cosplay] Blue Archive Summer Swimsuit: Summer Moments Frozen in the Sea Breeze

For this beach shoot of Shirasu Azusa's swimsuit version, although the sea breeze constantly blew my hair around, it unexpectedly enhanced the harmony with the summer atmosphere.

In terms of props, because the Abydos plush doll was so adorable, I brought it along to the beach for playful interactions. The translucent halo headpiece caught the natural coastal light with a soft sheen, which, paired with the oversized magenta bow adorned with white polka dots, gave the headwear distinct visual layers. Beyond the main bow, colorful fruit-shaped hair clips accented the braided sides—especially the lime slice clip, which injected a refreshing, cool detail into the silver-white look.

For the outfit coordination, a large pink bow at the neckline served as the visual focal point, paired with semi-sheer white striped ruffled sleeves and deep blue, pink, and white ruffled layers along the skirt hem. The overall design exudes both the breezy charm of a seaside girl and the ethereal lightness of a little angel. To match the swimsuit setting, the white wings on the back were crafted to be compact and lightweight, wrapped inside with pink and purple ribbons featuring detailed heart-printed patterns for an exquisite touch.

For hair and makeup, managing this long silver-white wig took significant effort. To keep the sea breeze from parting the bangs into 'barcodes,' I used plenty of styling spray on the bangs and face-framing strands to maintain a fluffy, voluminous shape. For the eye makeup, I chose purplish-grey eyeshadow matching the colored contacts, highlighting the aegyo sal with subtle shimmer and curling the eyelashes dramatically to make the eyes look bright and clear. The skin was given a matte finish to prevent glare from moisture and perspiration under the intense ocean sun.

During shooting, the sea breeze brought dynamic motion while putting the stability of the props to the test. Because of its size, the halo overhead caught significant wind resistance and could easily tilt if the angle wasn't right, so the photographer and I worked together for a long time finding the best stance. The tide also came in faster than anticipated; to keep the costume and plushie dry from the waves, our shooting pace had to remain brisk. Although the wind tossed my hair and I swallowed a few mouthfuls of sea air, the unpredictability and slight wildness under authentic natural light gave the final photos an extra touch of spontaneous vitality.

In post-processing, I made sure to suppress highlights on the sea surface to prevent blown-out, flat whites. At the same time, I tuned color saturation and contrast so the azure ocean water formed a vibrant warm-and-cool contrast with the pink, purple, white, and yellow accents of the character, creating a texture reminiscent of a summer watercolor illustration. In the looking-back close-up shot, despite the strong breeze, the tension blending stillness and motion was captured wonderfully by the lens. Wearing a beloved character's summer swimsuit and standing on a real beach was a rare, immersive experience for an anime cosplay enthusiast, giving me a deeper appreciation for the joy of beach photography under outdoor natural light.
