This Yachiyo cosplay from Cosmic Princess Kaguya! was in the works for quite a while, from initial makeup trials to set construction. The most time-consuming pre-production element was styling the wig: the silvery-white blunt bangs had to be repeatedly trimmed and heat-pressed, while the looped buns flanking the crown required ultra-firm reinforcement to ensure they wouldn't lose shape when walking outdoors or climbing ladders. The pale wooden zigzag hair ornaments inserted into the buns were also proportioned to match the original art precisely. The costume possesses immense layering: a deep navy primary palette paired with oversized crimson bell sleeves and an off-the-shoulder neckline, crisscrossed with purple ribbons over the chest. The cascading hemlines are intricately layered with deep navy, teal, yellow, and black-and-white zigzag fabrics; to maintain proper drape during shooting, I added dedicated internal stays. The lower half was styled with teal pantyhose featuring white polka dots (Stockings cosplay) and yellow-and-black platform footwear, forging an exceptionally vibrant color contrast.

For the outdoor location, we selected a traditional Japanese architectural complex surrounded by cherry blossoms in full bloom (Sakura cosplay). To immerse the scene in atmosphere, I prepared pink paper lanterns and a crimson oil-paper umbrella, while keeping the bright pink plush toy cradled in hand throughout the shoot as the most playful pop of color in the frame. While shooting along the wooden veranda, I sat at the edge and stretched my legs forward; the teal polka-dot stockings delivered an immense visual punch against the rustic woodwork. Later, to recreate the scene from the original art, I climbed a wooden ladder onto the tiled roof. Sitting atop dark roof tiles demands great bodily balance; blooming sakura boughs framed the roof, while the pink lanterns behind me and warm amber floor lamps inside established a striking contrast between cool and warm tones. For the night set, we waited until the moon ascended; a luminous full moon paired with the roof silhouette, lit with a single key light balanced against ambient exposure to protect shadow details and summon that quintessential fantasy ambiance.

The wind shifted unpredictably throughout the day, scattering cherry blossom petals everywhere, which organically added natural, fluttering movement to the frames. Because the sleeves are exceptionally wide, whether raising a hand to touch a hairpin or holding up the umbrella, I had to mind the drape of fabric folds to showcase the intended tailoring silhouette from every angle. The makeup accentuated icy blue contact lenses and flushed pink blush; to pop under outdoor light, the eyeliner was elongated slightly and finished with a vivid lip shade. Overall, realizing this set relied heavily on synergy between environment and props, and I hope this layered, intricate look is fully conveyed.
