On the third day of Firefly ACG Expo, I debuted the modified Qipao version of Kasugano Sora cosplay. Today, I'd like to share some insights on styling details and the shooting experience. The core of this coordination lies in the combination of a modified Qipao with white stockings paired with black Mary Jane shoes, concentrating visual focal points on the traditional frog buttons and slits up top, and the leg contours below. Convention lighting was quite complex on-site—especially in the cherry blossom display area, where the pink backdrop easily cast unwanted color casts on the face, making us heavily reliant on the photographer's on-camera fill light for proper skin tones.

We explored three distinct compositional styles. The first set was in the dessert zone, sitting on a yellow sofa while cradling a gray teddy bear and a pink doughnut plush. This setup captured a soft, casual lifestyle vibe; the white stockings showcased their delicate fabric texture even better under dimmer lighting, connecting smoothly with the Mary Janes to flatter the full leg line. The second setup stood beneath the cherry blossom trees in a three-quarter profile stance. This not only accentuated the flattering contour of the side-slit qipao but also avoided the doll-like stiffness that often plagues straight-on frontal shots; the dynamic skirt hem paired with bright white twin tails felt airy and weightless.

The third set was a spontaneous snapshot in the main hall corridor holding a small yellow sign—a casual wide shot. The background was undeniably busy, but it authentically documented the vibrant, bustling atmosphere of the convention floor. In terms of costume maintenance, this qipao fabric isn't exceptionally drape-resistant and tends to wrinkle when sitting, requiring frequent smoothing between shots. The twin tails were another focal point, requiring structured wig buns to prevent drooping and maintain dimensional fullness. Lace trim along the stocking tops added refined delicacy to the complete look.

White stockings paired with garter straps are ideal for events like this that require prolonged walking and standing; they avoid the constriction of full pantyhose while effectively elongating the legs. Black floral ornaments nestled in the hair created a crisp contrast against the white dress. Doing cosplay is more than just wearing an outfit—it's about channeling the character's signature aura from the right camera angles, so I also shared composition ideas with the photographers while shooting. Despite the massive crowds at Firefly ACG Expo, the resulting Convention photos closely matched my ideal vision for this Sora qipao look. This styling garnered immense attention among ACG fans with long queues waiting to shoot, and everyone was incredibly enthusiastic during our interactions. Sharing these photos is a wonderful way to reflect on giving my all at this convention.
