[Honkai: Star Rail Cosplay at CICF Expo] Ice-Blue Greatsword and Cool Color Scheme

This time at the CICF Expo, I brought this outfit featuring a blue and white color scheme. The overall style leans toward an icy vibe, and with the translucent ice-blue greatsword in my hand, several photographers stopped me on site to shoot for quite a while.

First, about the clothing part: the outfit has very rich layering. The inner layer is a white high-slit long dress, while the outer layer is a fitted cuirass with dark grey-blue patterns, featuring cloud motifs and geometric line prints. The neck has a standing collar with round decorations, and the mirror-textured disc on the chest reflects light under the ceiling lights of the hall, acting as the visual centerpiece of the whole look. The detachable sleeves on the arms are also a highlight—the white flower and red tassel on the right arm serve as a finishing touch, adding a splash of warmth to the large area of cool colors. However, this form-fitting cut was indeed a bit inconvenient when walking around the convention, especially the high-slit section where I had to be extra careful when squatting or bending over to avoid accidental exposure. So I spent most of the day standing, trying to find clean backgrounds for photos.

As for props, this ice sword design is actually lighter than it looks. Light material was likely used inside, with ice-crackle patterns and gradient blue finish on the surface. The gear-like structures at the hilt and handguard fit fingers very comfortably. During the shoot, I tried several sword-holding postures: letting it hang naturally with one hand, blocking horizontally with both hands, and holding it sideways. The front-facing sword stance in the photo was actually the most stable because the center of gravity rested right in my palm, preventing wobbling. Since it was crowded, I occasionally bumped into passersby, but luckily all edges of the sword were blunted so it wouldn't scratch anyone.

The venue for this CICF Expo was huge with great lighting conditions. As overhead lights shone down, the silver-white texture of the wig stood out very clearly. When doing makeup, I specifically used light purple eyeshadow and lip color, combined with red contact lenses, aiming to present a cool yet lively demeanor. It was actually quite hot on the shooting day with heavy foot traffic. Although the outfit looks cool, the fabric is rather thick and the armor section lacks breathability, so my back was drenched in sweat by the end of the day. But seeing that refreshing blue and white color scheme in the final photos made all the effort feel completely worth it.

While shooting near the booth, I bumped into several other cosplayers from the same franchise. We exchanged experiences on prop making and wig styling—this offline atmosphere is truly irreplaceable online. Especially when passersby recognized the character or kids stared in wonder, that feeling of recognition felt wonderfully real. I reapplied gloss varnish to the greatsword a week in advance; compared to the first time I wore this cosplay, the texture and shine improved a lot, making the resulting photos look even clearer and more translucent.

Actually, every time I cosplay a character with a combat-oriented style, the most critical element to watch out for is action tension. You can't just stand stiffly; there must be interaction between the weapon and body lines—such as the angle of the sword tip pointing to the ground, shoulder relaxation, and eye focus. These details all affect the final visual feel. During the shoot, I communicated repeatedly with the photographer, who guided me to adjust my stance and turning direction to find angles that balanced both costume completeness and weapon presence.

Lastly, a quick word about the expo experience: CICF Expo has always been super popular. Visiting this time, I found many nearby booths launching new works, giving me plenty of inspiration after walking around. Although walking around in this outfit was tiring, seeing my meticulously prepared look turned into so many beautiful photos gives me a great sense of accomplishment. I hope to meet everyone again at future anime conventions with new works!
