[2B cosplay] NieR:Automata: Glory to Mankind

Shooting this 2B Bride set for our convention appearance was truly a test of controlling the skirt hem. The hall was crowded with heavy foot traffic, so capturing a clean background that aligned with the character's persona relied entirely on the photographer scouting various angles. The costume itself layered generous amounts of black tulle and lace ruffles, feeling substantial in weight yet appearing remarkably ethereal due to its translucent fabric. The silver hollow geometric emblem on the chest served as a focal highlight, popping vividly against the solid black base. Paired with a silver-white wig and blue contact lenses, the visual contrast was striking. One of the main highlights of this styling was the lace-trimmed Black stockings on the thighs, which, matched with glossy black block heels, elongated the leg lines beautifully. During the shoot, to show off the spread of the long skirt, I constantly modulated how hard I held and draped the fabric. For the pose with one leg raised, I had to keep my balance steady while maintaining natural, graceful body lines. Because the venue's ambient lighting was far from ideal and easily caught background clutter from many angles, we mainly relied on foreground fill light combined with a wide aperture to blur the background, focusing the viewer's eye on costume details and gaze. Gothic-style outfits like this are particularly sensitive to lighting: harsh light flattens the dimension, while dim light obscures the delicate textures of black tulle and lace, requiring constant repositioning throughout the shoot. Convention photography time is always tight; being able to produce this set came down to thorough pre-shoot prep on the wig and accessories, as well as patient guidance from photographer @蒲牢411. Nailing the exact instant when the skirt flared or settled required seamless teamwork. Leaning into a dark aesthetic, this ensemble took on a poised, tranquil presence inside the bright exhibition hall. Organizing these Convention photos, the overall shoot mood and flow aligned wonderfully with my vision, capturing everything from fabric textures to pose composition with striking dimensionality. In the end, this serves as a cherished keepsake from the convention.
