In April at the Shenzhen Ring Universe Anime Carnival, the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement and packed with bustling crowds. I switched through six different Anime-style look outfits in a single day—from a pink lace dress to a red-and-black Lolita outfit, shooting continuously from morning till afternoon with massive physical exertion. The first outfit, a pink lace dress, was gentle and elegant, but the skirt was quite long, requiring constant attention while walking to avoid stepping on the hem. The second was a loose Japanese-style outfit with animal ear elements; wearing it felt very playful, though the wide sleeves took some effort when raising my arms, so we looked for cool-toned lighting angles specifically to highlight the colors on the garment. The third outfit was an embroidered traditional style look with a white base and pink sleeves. The embroidery details were exquisite, and the wig was packed with hair accessories and tassels; posing with a silk round fan and microphone while utilizing the heavy drape of the wide sleeves made for great photos.
The fourth outfit was a gray Black pantyhose uniform look, slinging a violin case over one shoulder. The black stockings and long legs in this ensemble were exceptionally prominent on camera, but shooting with the weighted prop tested my stamina heavily, requiring constant shifts in balance while maintaining a smiling backward glance—leaving my shoulder thoroughly sore after that set. The fifth was a red-and-black suit uniform look; styling long straight black hair with red eyes paired with a houndstooth skirt, utilizing simple waving gestures, half-body compositions, and the venue's dim lighting to create fantastic texture. The sixth red-and-black Lolita dress was relatively complex and took quite a while to shoot to capture its details; due to the lower neckline, I had to be mindful throughout the shoot to avoid wardrobe malfunctions.
During the shoot, I changed my makeup three times and touched up powder foundation twice—being drenched in sweat was just the norm. The flash strobes at the convention venue were very powerful, and the photographer used dim backgrounds paired with blue backlights to capture clean, wasteland-style aesthetics. Finding gaps in the crowd to hit the shutter tested the photographer's snapshot abilities, but thankfully the final compositions in these Convention photos turned out very stable. These are my authentic impressions from the shoot, sharing details of convention check-ins and outfit changes, hoping to serve as a helpful reference for fellow cosplay enthusiasts planning multi-look shoots in the future.
