Attempting to recreate a version of Laevatain with an intense sense of extreme cold, the focus of this photo set lies in presenting the character's tough clothing materials and the melting crystal props. This black leather outfit received a matte treatment, which, combined with silver metal buckles and the slanted design of the white tie, creates a visually strong contrast. The asymmetrical design also fits the sci-fi theme well. Details like the single shoulder strap at the collar and the ring buckles on the chest reveal real leather textures under the lights; the tailored cut fits the body closely, maintaining the character's rightful cool distant look and sense of power without overemphasizing sexuality.
Regarding the props, tying into the post's description of "the popsicle melted," the focus was on capturing the dynamic moment of melting ice. The crystal I held in my hand glowed with an eerie blue light from within. During shooting, we had to precisely control the temperature on the prop's surface to let water droplets condense and drip naturally. The rising mist greatly enhanced the mysterious vibe, working with low-temperature cold light to perfectly simulate the melting state of a sci-fi energy crystal. To match the character setting, I specifically chose thick leather material; though very heavy to wear during shooting, it shaped crisp contour lines in front of the lens. The white tie was also made of stiff fabric to guarantee it kept a straight, upright shape. Metal buttons and shoulder straps on the jacket were finalized after repeated adjustments, striving to stay true to the design in every detail.
The setting was placed in an industrial cabin with mechanical attributes, where pipes and cool white lighting created a strong futuristic feel. The red pipes overhead formed a clever color echo with my red hair. In terms of composition, I selected several camera angles. Close-ups highlighted eye expressions and the crystal, while slightly wider shots incorporated mechanical elements in the environment, giving the photo set a richer story feel.
Wig texture is also an essential part of recreating the character. To express that vibrant red, I blended and trimmed hair strands of different red shades so it possessed both thickness and airy texture. The black horns on the head were handmade using sculpted molds, with detailed sanding and painting on the surface to retain subtle wear marks. Wearing these horns required considering human head structure, using securing devices to keep them stable without affecting facial expressions.
During photography, because ambient and internal light sources were very complex, we adopted a dual main light plus backlight setup. This hard lighting technique cleanly outlined facial contours and leather reflections while preserving dark area details. Photographing the melting crystal required high shutter speeds to capture the dripping water, while highlighting the blue glow inside the ice used a combination of slow shutters and strong lighting. While these technical details sound simple, they required close synergy between the lighting technician and photographer during the actual shoot.
As for post-processing and composite work, as mentioned in the post's description of "Laevatain composite," we optimized light effects and particles on top of raw photos using digital painting and rendering techniques for better visual results. This wasn't a simple filter overlay, but an approach combining 3D rendering concepts to make the ice crystal's refractions conform better to physical lighting and water movement feel more natural, while removing distracting environmental elements to make this special prop and character stand out more.
Shooting this Cosplay work was a rare and valuable experience. Every finished shot requires perfect collaboration across four dimensions: outfits, props, lighting, and post-processing. I'm glad to present Laevatain's demeanor and spatial sense in this specific scene. Although it is a set of posed final shots, the overall immersion and sci-fi experience were successfully captured. Adding more dynamic elements to the scene, such as other mechanical structures, might fit the worldbuilding of Arknights: Endfield even better.
