[Fugue Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail: Long Time No See, Benefactor

Spent an entire afternoon in the studio wrestling with this outfit—there are so many metallic accessories that every time I sat down, the waistline had to be readjusted. To recreate Fugue's signature look, the wig was styled with a black-to-red gradient, and the beast-ear props on top had considerable weight, requiring plenty of hairpins to anchor securely. For the makeup, focus was placed on the red smudging around the eyes paired with green contacts, aiming to evoke a gaze that feels both languid and slightly aloof. Floral body art was specially painted onto the shoulder; to keep this delicate detail intact, large, sweeping movements had to be avoided during the shoot.

The outfit's details are well worth examining: the deep purplish-red overcoat features subtle woven patterns with gold trim along the cuffs and hemline, while the silver-white peony embroidery on the red skirt is exceptionally intricate. Accented by golden metal jewelry at the chest and waist, the overall texture feels substantial and luxurious. Combined with the fluffy white plush tail in the back, adjusting seating poses required extreme care each time to avoid flattening the tail and disrupting the composition.

The studio set also took considerable effort to stage. Wooden screens, lattice windows, tea sets, and fruit platters arranged on a low table caught the slanted afternoon sun, casting mottled, warm yellow light and shadows across the room. To capture the ideal illumination, the photographer and I repeatedly adjusted light placements and reflector angles, occasionally fine-tuning my side profile to catch natural gleams off the metallic ornaments.

The entire set of photos strives to convey a serene yet subtly tense atmosphere. Where the eyes rested, how the fingers were placed, and the way the fabric was gathered in hand were all discovered through continuous trial, error, and retakes. Backlit, the fluffy texture of the tail appears extraordinarily soft, creating a striking visual contrast against the cold, rigid metal accents. From straightening out the layers to wrapping up the final frames, this Cosplay photoshoot was physically exhausting, but seeing the interplay of light and shadow in the finished shots made every bit of tedious prep work worthwhile.
