Because the shoot took place during a phase when 'times have truly changed,' looking back at this hazy, soft-focus aesthetic now actually feels remarkably fitting for the character's intrinsic atmosphere.
Beginning with hair and makeup, substantial effort went into crafting the wig, particularly the red highlights and the treatment of the hair ends. Hair wax had to be measured out with extreme caution to prevent clumping, all while shaping messy yet clean strand textures. The headwear combines red cords and bows; finding the right materials took a long time back then, and when finally paired with those two massive animal ears, the entire head silhouette was beautifully structured. To prevent the accessories from looking too jarring visually, I intentionally teased a few stray strands across the crown and dusted fine golden glitter over them—a detail that glistens gorgeously under the light, even if it is barely noticeable to the naked eye.
Regarding makeup, to complement the cyan-blue contact lenses, I eschewed conventional black eyeliner in favor of pinkish smudging. The eyeshadow fades lighter toward the top, with delicate transitional shading on the lower lids. Enlarged pupils paired with upward-curled lashes authentically evoked the character's non-human, otherworldly charm. The costume is this red-and-white paneled top; its criss-cross collar design easily risks looking sloppy, so I used pins to secure it while allowing natural folds and drape across the chest. The knots on the red cords also required repeated adjustments to avoid looking too rigid.
During the shoot, we used relatively soft lighting rather than harsh rim lights; to make the face look cleaner and brighter, we added a subtle bloom filter—creating that wonderfully comforting, dreamy blur everyone talks about. In post-processing, while striving to preserve the original look as much as possible, we applied soft focus and skin smoothing to unify skin textures. Throughout the entire process, we didn't deliberately chase the razor-sharp clarity typical of 2D standards; instead, this subtle blur nicely softened any visible seams from the beast ears and wig, yielding a more vivid, natural finish. Three key poses were chosen: a waving gesture, a frontal pose tilting the head with lips slightly parted, and a side profile winking, each presenting distinct facets of her expression.

We poured considerable effort into lighting, costume nuances, and hair textures for this shoot, and looking back on it now still feels deeply rewarding.
