This Wakaba Mutsumi cosplay look from this shoot really put the recreation of details to the test, especially that black wide-brimmed hat with pearls and veils, and the way the black rose bow at the neck is tied. The wig chosen was a mint green wig with a gradient to silver, paired with amber-colored contact lenses, attempting to recreate the character's unique expressionless and slightly aloof temperament. This mint green bunny in my arms was actually modified by hand; I added black fabric splicing to its apron to make it better fit the overall dark Gothic Lolita atmosphere. The silver dragonfly hair ornament held in my hand in the second picture is also a very crucial element from the original design. This time, I specially layered black half-finger gloves with long lace gloves, which both preserves the character's gender-neutral coolness and adds a touch of gorgeousness. The shooting environment was chosen in an antique-style stairwell, where the carved silver chair and black feather decorations perfectly maxed out the light and dark contrast of the frame, bringing out the ideal vibe for dark style photography. Regarding the makeup, a matte foundation was used for the base, downplaying the blush, with the focus placed on the amber blending of the eye makeup and the ultra-fine glitter on the lower eyelids, while a translucent berry shade was chosen for the lips to neutralize the overall warm and cool tones of low saturation. Because the weather was indeed very cold, I wrapped myself in a down jacket during breaks, but as soon as the camera started rolling, I immediately got into character, doing my best to maintain that 'cool-faced cute' sense of contrast. The skirt hem of this outfit features layers of ruffles, and combined with the lace-up design at the waist, it reveals a subtle pearlescent texture under the lights. Therefore, post-processing mainly adjusted the color temperature and contrast without over-smoothing the skin, preserving the authentic skin texture and the details of the fabric. From choosing the wig to finalizing the makeup and matching the props, it took two weeks of preparation. I feel I've gained a deeper understanding of the character's inner trait of being quiet yet persistent. I hope this set of photos can convey a bit of warmth beneath the character's cold exterior; after all, the charm of cosplay lies in using external styling to collide with the character's soul.
