[Kal'tsit cosplay] The White-Haired Lynx for Arknights 7th Anniversary

For the Arknights 7th anniversary special project, this long-awaited Kal'tsit cosplay shoot is finally complete. I had been preparing the related costume and props for a long time; using this anniversary milestone as an opportunity, I revisited the character's temperament and stance, fulfilling a wish I've held for ages.

For this character, I think the biggest challenge lies in expressing that aloof, rational demeanor layered with subtle, complex emotions. To match this lore, I deliberately subdued the eyeshadow blocks in my makeup, placing the visual focal point on the light green contact lenses. Combined with elongated eyeliner, this gave the gaze a sharper focus and an aloof detachment. Under intense natural light, the white wig produced noticeable highlight bloom on top; while I usually prefer suppressing highlights during retouching, for Kal'tsit, this extreme cold-white, almost piercing translucency actually fits her distant presence and subtly sci-fi background remarkably well.

The animal ears on top were the highlight of this look, featuring custom-made yellow-brown and black gradient fur with ear-tip curvature tailored to the character's biological lynx features (White hair, animal ears). In terms of outfit, I chose this techwear and sci-fi Mechanical style ensemble. The off-shoulder design with clear straps beautifully accentuates the neckline and shoulders. The white patch on the collar and the interlaced green-and-black straps at the bottom maintain a restrained color palette without flashy elements, focusing entirely on highlighting the character's cool detachment.

When shooting this photo set, the ambient lighting conditions were very hard. The photographer did not use softboxes to soften the contrast ratio, opting instead to directly utilize the stark chiaroscuro of strong outdoor sunlight. In fact, adjusting the pose for the glance-back shot (the cover photo) took considerable time. This angle required balancing the relaxed stretch of the shoulders and arms while keeping the white hair from being completely tousled by the wind, all while locking onto the perfect focal point for the eyes the instant I turned my head to maintain a composed, unruffled expression. Fortunately, the texture of the final Cosplay photography was deeply satisfying.

Regarding props, the Mechanical style gear and chains were crafted with great solidity, though quite heavy. Holding these cold industrial components during the shoot greatly assisted me in entering character. In post-processing, the photographer used a cool-cyan, desaturated atmospheric grading that matched my intended cool tone. This was not only a tribute commemorating the years Arknights has journeyed through, but also an elevation of my own cosplay styling and bodily expression. Navigating between anime conventions and studio sets, experiencing every movement of a character, is a process I truly relish. Taking the 7th anniversary as an opportunity to capture Kal'tsit's outfit and record this moment felt extraordinarily rewarding.
